Gavin Newsom fancies himself the face of the anti-Trump resistance.
But the California Governor ran into someone who fought actual tyranny overseas.
And Jay Collins handed Gavin Newsom a brutal reality check after this outrageous attack on Donald Trump.
California Governor celebrates massive "No Kings" protests against Trump
An estimated 7 million Americans took to the streets over the weekend in what organizers called "No Kings Day" – one of the largest protest movements in American history.¹
The October 18 demonstrations spread across 2,600 sites in all 50 states, dwarfing even the first round of "No Kings" protests held in June.²
California Governor Gavin Newsom gleefully celebrated the massive turnout, using it as another opportunity to attack President Trump and position himself as the leader of the resistance movement.
"7 million Americans turned out yesterday to peacefully protest a monarchy," Newsom posted on social media after the protests.³ "It was the biggest protest the country has ever seen. And despite the GOP’s best efforts to sow hatred and chaos, you stood firm in peace and unity. That’s what real patriotism looks like."
The California Democrat has been on a months-long campaign to portray Trump as an authoritarian monarch rather than a duly elected President.
Newsom even changed his social media profile picture to an AI-generated image of Marie Antoinette with Trump’s face, mocking the President’s plans to construct a ballroom at the White House.⁴
"NEW PROFILE PIC! In honor of our Queen!" Newsom’s press office posted, taking a jab at Trump while the federal government shutdown entered its third week.⁵
The French queen reference wasn’t subtle – Marie Antoinette was the last queen of France before the revolution overthrew the monarchy and sent her to the guillotine.

Florida’s Lieutenant Governor destroys Newsom’s monarchy narrative
Florida Lieutenant Governor Jay Collins wasn’t having any of Newsom’s theatrics.
The retired Green Beret, who lost his leg serving in Afghanistan, fired back at Newsom with a dose of reality about what actual tyranny looks like.
"A ‘monarchy’ that doesn’t even exist in the United States," Collins wrote on social media.⁶ "Americans don’t buy into the left’s propaganda. @GavinNewsom, we know what tyranny is. Some of us didn’t just protest tyranny—we fought it, bled for it, and it will never take root here as long as I live."
Collins’ response carried extra weight given his military background and personal sacrifice fighting terrorism overseas.
Unlike Newsom, who built his career in the comfortable confines of San Francisco and Sacramento politics, Collins actually fought authoritarian regimes on foreign battlefields.
The contrast couldn’t be starker – a career politician using revolutionary rhetoric for political gain versus a combat veteran who knows the difference between an elected President and an actual dictator.
Collins also took aim at Senate Democrat Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, who celebrated the "No Kings" protests on social media.
"Hey @SenSchumer No Kings’ day is July 4th!" Collins wrote.⁷ "Why do the @TheDemocrats care more about illegals than American Citizens? Also, why are all of your sponsors socialists and communists Comrade??! Do your job and stop playing games."
The Lieutenant Governor’s blunt response reflects the broader conservative frustration with Democrats comparing Trump’s legitimate executive actions to monarchy or dictatorship.

Collins and Newsom already have bad blood
This wasn’t Collins’ first confrontation with Newsom since being appointed Florida’s Lieutenant Governor by Ron DeSantis in August.
Just days into his new role, Collins traveled to California to personally extradite an illegal alien accused of killing three Floridians in a traffic accident.⁸
Harjinder Singh, an undocumented truck driver from India, allegedly made an illegal U-turn on Florida’s Turnpike in St. Lucie County, killing three people.⁹
Singh had obtained a commercial driver’s license in California despite being in the country illegally and speaking limited English.
When interviewed by Florida Highway Patrol, Singh could only answer three of 16 questions correctly due to his inability to speak English fluently.¹⁰
"Three lives lost because of Gavin Newsom, because of California’s failed policies," Collins declared at a press conference in Stockton, California.¹¹ "We’re done with that s—."
Collins didn’t mince words about why he made the trip personally rather than leaving it to routine law enforcement channels.
"I didn’t trust him," Collins said of Newsom.¹² "I didn’t think he was going to stand up and let these things happen, so I wanted to make sure that if something happens, somebody’s on the ground."
Newsom fired back on social media, claiming Florida had let a murder suspect walk and that California police had to arrest Singh.¹³
But Collins’ willingness to confront Newsom on his home turf sent a clear message that Florida Republicans won’t let California’s failed policies harm their citizens without consequences.
The Left’s monarchy fantasy doesn’t survive contact with reality
Here’s what Democrats want you to believe – Trump is a king, 7 million protesters stood up to tyranny, and America is on the brink of dictatorship.
House Speaker Mike Johnson wasn’t buying it. He called the demonstrations a "Hate America rally" that would draw "the pro-Hamas wing" of the Democratic Party.¹⁴
Republicans pointed out Democrats refused to reopen the federal government just so their radical base could throw a tantrum in Washington, D.C.¹⁵
You know what actual monarchs don’t do? Win elections. Trump got a landslide mandate from voters who chose him – twice – despite Democrats throwing everything they had at him.
Trump deployed National Guard troops to Memphis and Chicago because local officials asked for help dealing with violent crime that was tearing their cities apart.¹⁶ That’s not dictatorship – that’s a President responding to governors requesting federal assistance.
The President secured the border, deported criminal illegal aliens, and reversed Biden’s disasters. All of it within his constitutional authority as the elected chief executive.
But Collins knows the difference between Trump’s executive actions and actual tyranny because he bled fighting the real thing in Afghanistan.
When a Green Beret who lost his leg overseas tells you Trump isn’t a monarch, that carries more weight than Gavin Newsom’s AI memes and revolutionary cosplay on social media.
The "No Kings" protests might have drawn millions of participants, but the whole thing is built on a lie that insults every American who actually fought tyranny overseas.
Trump is President because voters chose him – not because he seized power at gunpoint or inherited a crown from his father.
Newsom can post all the Marie Antoinette memes he wants. It won’t change the fact that Trump won fair and square, and no amount of street theater will overturn that reality.
