Ron DeSantis sent Democrats into a frenzy with one move that will make their worst nightmare a reality

Oct 29, 2025

The Biden administration spent years suppressing alternative treatments during COVID.

Now one conservative Governor is settling the score.

And Ron DeSantis sent Democrats into a frenzy with one move that will make their worst nightmare a reality.

DeSantis signals he’ll sign bill making ivermectin available over the counter

Governor Ron DeSantis dropped a bombshell that has the medical establishment scrambling.

The Florida Governor announced he’s pushing the state legislature to pass legislation allowing ivermectin to be sold over the counter without a prescription.¹

“We are pushing for the Legislature to do the Ivermectin bill; I will sign it once passed,” DeSantis wrote on social media in response to a constituent’s question about the drug’s availability.²

This is the same ivermectin the FDA spent years demonizing and Big Tech censored anyone who dared discuss.

State Representative Jeff Holcomb originally filed the legislation in September, but withdrew his bill this week after confirming the language would be rolled into another piece of legislation.³

Holcomb’s office said the lawmaker would speak about his efforts after the new bill is formally filed.

The move comes as Florida joins a growing list of states breaking free from federal health agency overreach.

Tennessee, Arkansas, Idaho, Louisiana, and Texas have already passed legislation making the anti-parasitic drug available to their residents in various forms.⁴

Louisiana requires pharmacists to prescribe it with safety information, while other states allow direct over-the-counter sales.

The drug the establishment tried to destroy

The timing couldn’t be more significant.

For years during the COVID pandemic, doctors who prescribed ivermectin faced professional persecution.

The FDA launched an aggressive campaign against the drug, posting messages on social media like “You are not a horse. You are not a cow. Seriously, y’all. Stop it.”⁵

Doctors lost hospital privileges, faced disciplinary action from state medical boards, and some were forced to resign simply for prescribing a drug that’s been safely used in humans for decades.

Dr. Mary Bowden was forced to resign her privileges at Houston Methodist Hospital after she began recommending ivermectin to treat COVID in early 2020.⁶

Dr. Paul Marik was forced to resign his positions at Eastern Virginia Medical School and Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for the same reason.⁶

These weren’t quacks pushing snake oil.

These were respected physicians following their medical judgment and getting destroyed for it.

The FDA claimed ivermectin was only effective against parasites and dangerous for COVID treatment.

But doctors who actually treated patients saw something different.

Prescriptions for ivermectin shot up by 2,400% during the pandemic as doctors turned to the drug when official treatments failed.⁷

The medical establishment responded not with scientific debate but with censorship and career destruction.

Three doctors finally had enough and sued the FDA for interfering with their ability to practice medicine.⁸

The lawsuit worked.

The FDA settled in March 2024 and agreed to yank down all those condescending social media posts about ivermectin.⁸

The agency didn’t admit they were wrong, but they blinked first.

Trump Administration embracing what Biden tried to ban

The medical establishment that destroyed doctors’ careers for prescribing ivermectin?

They’re about to get a rude awakening.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., confirmed as President Trump’s Secretary of Health and Human Services, has been an outspoken advocate for allowing doctors to prescribe ivermectin for COVID.⁹

Kennedy has promised to end what he calls the FDA’s “aggressive suppression” of ivermectin and other treatments that threaten pharmaceutical profits.¹⁰

“The FDA’s war on public health is about to end,” Kennedy wrote in a social media post. “This includes its aggressive suppression of psychedelics, peptides, stem cells, raw milk, hyperbaric therapies, chelating compounds, ivermectin, hydroxychloroquine, vitamins, clean foods, sunshine, exercise, nutraceuticals and anything else that advances human health and can’t be patented by Pharma.”¹⁰

First Lady Casey DeSantis has been leading Florida’s charge on this issue.

She announced last month that the state would use funding from the $60 million Florida Cancer Innovation Fund to research potential cancer treatment benefits of ivermectin.¹¹

“We should look at it. We should look at the benefits of it. We should not just speculate and guess,” Casey DeSantis said during a Tampa press conference. “We should, as the state of Florida, with over a billion dollars in funding since Ron DeSantis took office for cancer, we should be looking into things in generic form.”¹¹

Dr. Binay Shah, an oncologist who recently surveyed more than 90% of doctors about ivermectin and cancer, found that 22 doctors didn’t recommend its use while eight stated there’s not enough evidence to make a recommendation.¹²

Translation: the medical establishment doesn’t want to look at anything that threatens the pharmaceutical gravy train.

Democrats’ COVID tyranny coming back to haunt them

The Biden administration’s crusade against ivermectin during COVID represents everything wrong with the federal health bureaucracy.

Doctors couldn’t practice medicine without Big Brother looking over their shoulder.

Patients couldn’t access treatments their physicians recommended.

And anyone who questioned the approved narrative got censored, banned, or destroyed professionally.

The American people haven’t forgotten.

Florida’s move to allow over-the-counter access to ivermectin is about more than one drug.

It’s about restoring medical freedom and ending the stranglehold federal bureaucrats have over healthcare decisions.

Governor DeSantis kept Florida free during COVID while blue state Governors destroyed businesses and locked down their citizens.

Now he’s finishing what he started by empowering Floridians to make their own medical decisions without permission from federal bureaucrats in Washington, D.C.

The medical establishment is already pushing back.

The FDA still maintains ivermectin is not approved for COVID treatment, even after settling the lawsuit with doctors.¹³

But their credibility is shot.

The same agency that told Americans masks didn’t work, then said masks were essential, then said cloth masks were useless after forcing everyone to wear them for two years has zero moral authority left.

DeSantis signing this bill won’t just benefit Floridians.

It’ll send a message to every state that medical freedom is making a comeback.

And it’ll remind every bureaucrat in Washington, D.C. that the COVID tyranny they imposed is coming back to bite them.

The days of unelected federal health officials dictating medical practice are coming to an end.
