The Miami College Board refused to back down after this Democrat activist tried blocking Trump’s library

Dec 5, 2025

A left-wing activist thought he could stop President Trump's library with a frivolous lawsuit.

But he was dead wrong.

And the Miami College Board refused to back down after this Democrat activist tried blocking Trump's library.

Board Stands Firm Despite Legal Intimidation

Miami Dade College's Board of Trustees voted unanimously Tuesday to move forward with transferring nearly three acres of downtown Miami land for President Trump's presidential library.

The courageous vote came despite a lawsuit filed by Democrat activist Marvin Dunn trying to block the deal on bogus technicalities.

Dunn sued over the board's September vote, claiming they violated Florida's Sunshine Law by not providing enough public notice.¹

A judge granted Dunn a temporary injunction, but the board refused to be intimidated.

They held a new public meeting Tuesday at the college's Hialeah campus and voted unanimously to approve the land transfer again.

The property sits on Biscayne Boulevard next to the Freedom Tower and is valued at $67 million by county appraisers, though real estate experts say it could be worth over $300 million.²

Florida is giving Trump this prime real estate to honor his presidency and bring enormous prestige to Miami.

DeSantis Delivered For Trump While Leftists Whined

Governor Ron DeSantis orchestrated this deal from the beginning as a tribute to Trump's legacy.

Minutes after the board's September vote, DeSantis' office announced the property would become Trump's presidential library.³

One week later, DeSantis and the Florida Cabinet unanimously approved transferring the land to the Trump Presidential Library Foundation.

The foundation is led by Eric Trump, Tiffany Trump's husband Michael Boulos, and Trump's attorney James Kiley.⁴

Board Vice Chair Roberto Alonso explained why the library benefits Miami.

"I think this is a further expansion of an educational facility because presidential libraries are places where you can go and research," Alonso said.⁵

Miguel Granda, president of the Miami Young Republicans, defended the decision at Tuesday's meeting.

"Having a presidential library in our state, especially in our community, is huge," Granda said. "It'll boost tourism and I would prefer having a presidential library here than another high rise."⁶

Loud Minority Tried Drowning Out Majority Support

More than 100 people packed Tuesday's meeting for a public comment period that stretched three and a half hours.

Many spoke in favor of honoring Trump with the library.

"Who are we to say no?" supporter Myriam Campos asked. "To put the library here in downtown Miami, Donald Trump belongs to South Florida, so what's the problem with that?"⁷

Another supporter told the board they would be denying students "the possibility of all the prestige and benefit of a presidential library" if they backed down.⁸

The vocal opposition came largely from leftist activists who can't stand seeing Trump honored.

Dunn organized a petition against the transfer and claimed he had 20,000 signatures, but the board rightfully recognized this as an orchestrated campaign by Trump haters.⁹

"This is a waste of time to come here," Dunn complained after losing the vote again.¹⁰

Trump Deserves This Honor

Trump has won Florida twice in landslide victories because Floridians recognize his America First leadership.

A presidential library isn't just a museum — it's a research center, an educational facility, and an economic driver for the entire region.

The proposed library would feature a tower with museum space, presidential archives, and commercial tenants.¹¹

It will attract tourists from around the world who want to learn about Trump's historic presidency.

The Trump Foundation plans to finance construction using private donations and settlement money from Trump's successful lawsuits against Meta and ABC News.¹²

Florida taxpayers aren't paying a dime for construction while getting all the economic benefits.

DeSantis gave Trump the land because Trump earned it through eight years of transformational leadership — four as the 45th president and four more as the 47th president.

The Abraham Accords, the strongest economy in American history, the most secure border we've ever had, energy independence, defeated ISIS, rebuilt the military — the list goes on.

Trump's presidency deserves to be celebrated and studied for generations.

Miami is honored to host his presidential library.

Lawsuit Won't Stop This From Happening

Judge Mavel Ruiz's temporary injunction remains in place pending the lawsuit's outcome, with trial scheduled for August 2026.¹³

But the board's second vote demonstrates they're committed to seeing this through no matter what legal games Dunn tries to play.

The Sunshine Law claim is weak anyway.

The September meeting was properly noticed as a discussion of potential real estate transactions.

Dunn is nitpicking because he's a liberal activist who hates Trump and will use any excuse to try blocking something that honors him.

The board gave the public a second opportunity to comment Tuesday and voted the exact same way.

That should tell you everything you need to know about the merit of Dunn's lawsuit.

Florida Republicans are united behind this project.

DeSantis delivered the land, the Cabinet approved it unanimously, and the college board voted twice to make it happen.

Trump's presidential library will be built in downtown Miami whether liberal activists like it or not.

And Florida will reap the benefits for decades to come.
