Margaret Brennan interrupted Byron Donalds 12 times in one minute on live television Sunday.
She was trying to save the "backbone of the workforce" card Democrats spent four years setting up.
And Margeret Brennan had no answer when Donalds pulled that card apart piece by piece.
Brennan Couldn't Stomach the Word "Temporary"
The setup was predictable.
Brennan brought Donalds on Face the Nation Sunday to grill Florida's Republican gubernatorial nominee about the Trump administration ending Haitian TPS.
She had her ammunition ready – 158,000 Haitians legally in Florida, a State Department "Do Not Travel" advisory for Haiti, and the big weapon: 100,000 Haitians working in Florida healthcare.
"Do you have a plan to replace the loss of 100,000 Haitians who work in healthcare in Florida if they are deported?" Brennan asked.
It's a good trap, on paper.
Donalds didn't walk into it.

He reminded her that TPS stands for Temporary Protected Status – and that the Biden administration spent four years stripping the T off the program.
Biden didn't just extend TPS for Haitians once.
He redesignated it in 2021, extended it again in 2022, again in 2024 – each time expanding eligibility to Haitians who arrived later and later.
What Congress designed as an emergency stopgap became, under Biden's DHS, a de facto permanent residency program for 348,000 people.
Then, in Biden's final months, Mayorkas tried to lock in an 18-month extension specifically to tie Trump's hands.
DHS Secretary Kristi Noem canceled that extension in February.
Her department's statement called it exactly what it was – an exploitation and abuse of the program.
Donalds told Brennan you can't blow the borders wide open and then complain about workforce gaps in healthcare or anywhere else.
He named Biden, Angie Nixon, and David Jolly as the architects: "A lot of what you're talking about really stems from terrible decisions when it comes to immigration from the Biden administration."
523,000 Unemployed Floridians Says the Question Answers Itself
She wanted him to panic about an "immediate shortage."
Donalds had a different number in mind.
Florida currently has 523,000 unemployed workers – a figure that jumped 120,000 over the past year while the state shed 22,400 total jobs.

The healthcare and education sector was one of the only sectors showing job growth during that stretch.
The argument that no Americans can fill those positions collapses on contact with the data.
Donalds pitched his Launchpad Initiative – connecting high school juniors and seniors to apprenticeships and workforce training – and pointed to adult career retraining programs that can funnel workers into healthcare directly.
Brennan cut him off again: "But this is an immediate shortage of healthcare workers."
Democrats built that dependency deliberately.
They flooded the labor market with TPS workers, planted them in essential industries, then waited for Republicans to try and fix the immigration crisis they created.
The moment enforcement starts, out comes the "backbone of the workforce" card – and the implication that deportation means hospitals collapse.
It's a political hostage situation.
Donalds named it.
The Democrats Who Own This Problem
The pain of correcting Biden's immigration disaster belongs to the people who built it.
Bring workers in on "temporary" status, plant them in critical industries for five years, then dare anyone to enforce the law.
That's the game.
Brennan was running it live.

The first deportation flight to Haiti – 160 people to Cap-Haïtien on August 21 – proves enforcement is happening regardless.
Haiti's transitional government has reclaimed a quarter to half of the country from the gangs that held it.
The situation is improving whether CBS covers it or not.
Brennan's real objection isn't logistics.
It's that she found a Republican who could see exactly what she was doing – and wasn't impressed.
Donalds wasn't moved.
