Florida Democrats Are Calling a Two Point Lead a Win and Their CFO Candidate Has $108,000 in the Bank

Oct 12, 2026

Annette Taddeo just filed a campaign finance report showing $108,000 in the bank.

She is running for CFO of the third-largest state in America with $108,000.

A new poll out this week shows both Florida Cabinet races neck and neck – and Democrats are calling that a moral victory.

What the Poll Actually Tells You

Twelve percent of voters are still undecided in the Attorney General race.

Fourteen percent are undecided in the CFO race, where Blaise Ingoglia leads Taddeo 44% to 42%.

Both leads sit inside the margin of error.

Both races are competitive.

Uthmeier's lead has grown.

He was up 43-42 in mid-September.

Now he's up 45-43.

He gained ground while Rodríguez raised just over $2 million trying to close the gap.

The money tells the rest of the story. Uthmeier had $9.9 million in his war chest as of August. Rodríguez had $978,000 on that same date – leaving him outgunned nearly five-to-one even after his fundraising push.

In the CFO race, Ingoglia controlled $5.45 million. Taddeo had $108,000. Ingoglia is outspending her 50-to-one.

The Registration Wall Democrats Can't Climb

This is the number that makes every other number irrelevant.

Florida Republicans outnumber Democrats by 1.55 million active registered voters – 5.65 million to 4.1 million.

That's 42% of the electorate to Democrats' 30%.

That advantage didn't exist a decade ago.

In 2017 and 2018, Democrats actually held a registration lead in Florida.

Republicans built this wall over years, and it only keeps getting taller.

In 2022, with a smaller version of that advantage, Republicans swept every statewide Cabinet race by double digits.

Ashley Moody won the AG seat 61% to 39%.

Jimmy Patronis won CFO 59% to 41%.

The cycle before that, in 2014, Pam Bondi won the AG race 56% to 41%.

Republicans have won every Florida statewide Cabinet race since 2010.

Rodríguez needs to break a 16-year losing streak, with a fraction of the money, in a state that has moved decisively right since Democrats last held a registration edge.

The Endorsement Divide Tells the Real Story

Uthmeier has Trump's personal endorsement.

He has the Florida Sheriffs Association.

He has the Florida Police Benevolent Association.

The Republican Attorneys General Association committed seven figures to his race.

Rodríguez has the Florida AFL-CIO.

Florida has been voting on that exact choice for years – law enforcement and Trump versus unions and the Biden Labor Department – and the results haven't been close.

Rodríguez didn't just work for Biden's administration.

He served as an Assistant Secretary of Labor under Biden.

He is a walking advertisement for everything Florida voters rejected in 2024.

Taddeo took nearly 66% of the Democratic primary vote – the strongest showing of any Democrat running statewide this cycle.

Democrats consider that a sign of strength.

But 66% of a shrinking party with $108,000 in the bank isn't a path to victory. It's a consolation prize.

The Florida Republican Party chairman went on Fox News this week and said the state is deep red and will stay that way.

He's not spinning.

He's reading the registration rolls.

Democrats will spend the next month telling their donors these races are winnable.

They will be wrong.

You don't overcome a 1.55 million voter registration wall with a union endorsement and a Biden Labor Department credential.

Florida stopped being a swing state.

Democrats just haven't told their donors yet.
