It’s no secret that the corporate-controlled media’s so-called “fact checkers” have a left-wing bias.
Even when Democrats make an outrageous claim that must be labeled false, they often still try to justify it.
And a “fact checker” tried to give Charlie Crist a pass on this whopper he told about Ron DeSantis.
Representative Charlie Crist (D-FL), who is running against Ron DeSantis for Governor this year, made the absurd claim that DeSantis “opposes any background checks on guns, even for violent criminals.”
Politifact gave this claim a “Mostly False” rating while telling a few lies of their own.
According to Politifact’s rating system, a “mostly false rating” means a statement “contains an element of truth but ignores critical facts that would give a different impression.”
In reality, this statement should have received a “Pants on Fire” rating, which indicates “The statement is not accurate and makes a ridiculous claim.”
As Politifact admits, Ron DeSantis has never made a single statement opposing current federal and state law requiring background checks.
Politifact then made the absurd assertion that Constitutional Carry, a policy Ron DeSantis supports, “may allow people who evaded background checks to carry firearms publicly.”
Constitutional Carry simply states that anyone who can legally own a gun can legally carry concealed in public, without first having to obtain government permission.
This only applies to law-abiding gun owners – it is still illegal for felons to carry guns under Constitutional Carry.
Twenty-five states currently have Constitutional Carry laws on the books, including the northeastern states of Maine and New Hampshire, which consistently rank among the safest states in the country.
Elisjsha Dicken, the 22-year-old hero who took down a mass shooter in a mall, was legally carrying a handgun without a permit under Indiana’s new Constitutional Carry law that took effect mere weeks before the incident.
Unlike the gun-grabbers, Ron DeSantis understands that allowing more law-abiding gun owners to carry in public makes us safer.
Criminals don’t obey gun laws and nothing about Constitutional Carry or any other pro-gun policy that Ron DeSantis supports makes it easier for criminals to obtain or carry firearms.
Crist’s claim is Pants on Fire false and Politifact is a joke for saying anything otherwise.
