A fiery bedroom scene shocked police officers who were not prepared for what happened next

Apr 4, 2025

A man and his lady got into a bit of a scuffle.

But then things escalated to an insane new level.

And a fiery bedroom scene shocked police officers who were not prepared for what happened next.

Can men and women get along?

Relationships are complicated.

Some couples have a blissful time together, and others seem to get into daily fights and screaming matches.

Volatile couples hurl insults and curse words at one another and threaten to “leave for good this time.”

But then there are couples who take fighting to a whole different level.

And when one man got into a fight with his girlfriend, he decided to burn the whole house down.

Literally.

Set the place on fire

Manuel Alvarez, a 50-year-old, has a nasty temper.

He apparently thought it was acceptable to beat up his girlfriend, forcing the son to call police officers for help.

Unconscionable.

Any man who uses his strength and power to abuse a female should be thrown in prison.

And Alvarez was, but not before he tried to burn the whole house down.

When police arrived at the scene, the visibly shaken girlfriend warned them her lover was still inside and armed, CBS 12 reported.

But when police tried to apprehend Alvarez, they were stunned at what they encountered.

Alvarez had set the bedroom on fire, and police found scorched fake plants and other items that were extinguished before they arrived.

Crazy!

And when they tried to arrest him, Alvarez belted out “Come on up I’m going to shoot your a**,” CBS 12 reported.

Classy guy!

But while Alvarez thought he had the upper hand, he was not prepared for what law enforcement officers did next.

A straight shot

Officers opened the door and saw Alvarez pointing a gun at them threatening to shoot, but they shot him first.

He survived but was critically injured.

While Alavarez had no previous record, he was previously placed in psychiatric care by the Tampa Police Department a few years prior, WTSP reported.

Makes sense.

No sane person beats his girlfriend then tries to burn her house down, and threatens to shoot police officers when they come to help.

What did he really think would happen?

Thankfully, the battered girlfriend and her children are ok.

But this story could have had a deadly ending.

Sheriff Chad Chronister wants to make sure this never happens again and wants to empower those trapped in violence to seek help.

“Anyone out there who’s a victim of domestic violence, there is another way of life,” Chronister said.

He continued “Regardless of the circumstances that you’re in, that you think there’s no other way of life, I promise you there is,” WTSP reported.

And he is exactly right.

While disagreements occur in relationships, violence is never the answer.

Hopefully the shaken girlfriend will learn her guy is not all that great and will leave him for good before he strikes again.
