A Florida couple got the shock of their lives when they found this uninvited guest

No one wants to find an intruder in their home.

The Sunshine State added a scary twist to this problem.

And a Florida couple got the shock of their lives when they found this uninvited guest.

Florida couple finds an alligator in their home

There are more than 1.3 million alligators in Florida, and they can be found in every county in the state.

Floridians can expect to see them near inland bodies of water.

They usually do not find them relaxing in their home.

But that is what happened to a Florida couple.

Paul Quinn of Fort Myers, Florida was at home when he walked into his kitchen on a Sunday morning and found an unexpected guest.

A nearly seven-foot-long alligator was staring back at him.

“I’m like, ‘is that really an alligator in my living room or in the kitchen area here?'” Quinn stated. “It’s one of those things you don’t think that it will happen to you.”

Fortunately, the alligator was more scared of him.

“And then he saw me and he started running and I’m like, ‘Oh, crap, I got to deal with this today?'” Quinn added.

Quinn and his wife usually leave the main door open and utilize the screen door to get a breeze.

The curious alligator busted through the screen door before making his way to the kitchen.

An alligator trapper saves the day

Quinn called 911 about the surprising intruder in his home.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) dispatched some trappers about an hour later to remove the unwanted gator.

But the alligator was not going to give up the creature comforts of the Quinn’s home without a fight.

Video from WKMG showed the alligator resisting the FWC’s efforts to trap him.

The gator bit one of the legs of a dining room chair after a failed attempt to get a harness around his neck.

And the alligator spun around in a maneuver known as a death roll, typically reserved for killing its prey.

“He bit this chair and he had it in his mouth and he was swinging it around,” Quinn said.

Eventually, the trappers managed to drag the onery gator outside.

The FWC took him to an alligator farm to live out the rest of his days.

Mary Jo Quinn came home after she heard her husband had found an alligator in the kitchen.

She wondered how they ended up in this situation.

“Why did it come to your house, MJ? Two, how much an animal control charge to take it away, I would have been ticked had there been a bill,” Mary Jo said.

Finding an alligator living in your kitchen is one of the quirks that come with living in the Sunshine State.

“I don’t want to have a fear of an alligator just walking up our front walk into our foyer again; I can’t live like that; I live in Florida. I love living here, and I’m not leaving,” Mary Jo explained.

“They always tell you to be careful, you know, be mindful of the alligators,” Paul added. “This is why.”
