A Florida teacher union boss was busted for one awful crime that left Ron DeSantis sick

Jan 21, 2025

Students are the lowest priority for any teachers union.

They exist to line the pockets of the leadership.

And a Florida teacher union boss was busted for one awful crime that left Ron DeSantis sick.

Two union bosses accused of stealing more than $2 million from teachers unions

Teachers unions claim that they are looking out for students and teachers to improve education.

But they are really ripping money out of the hard-earned paychecks of teachers, often against their will, to fund a left-wing political agenda and enrich the union bosses who run them.

The leadership of a teachers union in Jacksonville, Florida is looking at decades in prison after they allegedly stole more than $2 million from teachers.

Former Duval Teachers United president Terrie Brady and former Duval Teachers United executive vice president Ruby George were indicted by federal prosecutors on conspiracy to commit wire fraud, eight counts of aiding and abetting wire fraud, and three counts of aiding and abetting mail fraud.

Brady was also hit with money laundering charges.

The indictment alleged that the pair were ripping off the union for more than a decade.

Brady and George sold back paid time off that they had not earned, signed off on unapproved bonuses for each other, and were reimbursed by the union for expenses they made up.

Brady used $44,000 of the embezzled money to pay off personal credit card debt.

The pair could face more than 24 years in a federal prison if they are convicted on all counts.

FBI and IRS agents raided the Duval Teachers United headquarters in 2023.

The pair resigned shortly after the raid claiming they wanted to spend more time with their families.

Indicted union boss complained of transparency requirements for unions

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed a bill into law in 2023 that placed new requirements on teachers unions including their financial statements.

“Having partisan groups basically get special privileges for deductions and all these other stuff, you know, that doesn’t work and so, I think this will be a huge, huge boon for transparency and efficiency in our school system,” DeSantis said at the time.

Sunlight is the best disinfectant which is why teachers unions are terrified of it.

Brady was fuming that her teachers union would have to make its books more transparent.

“We think we’re pretty transparent in the work that we do,” Brady claimed.

She was also upset that the law ended the process of mandatory deduction of union dues by school districts, so the government no longer functioned as the teachers union collection agent.

Duval Teachers United has about 13,000 members in Jacksonville and receives more than $5 million in union dues.

The Florida Education Association gave Brady a lifetime achievement for “a long record of excellent leadership and a deep commitment to the 13,000 employees her union represents” in 2022.

She was the former head of the Florida Democrat Party and a former member of the Democratic National Committee.

The former union bosses were more interested in lining their pockets than the well-being of students or the teachers they claimed to represent.
