Officials were stunned to learn one woman won the Florida lottery nine straight times in a row!
But as it turns out the “luckiest woman” in Florida is not so lucky after all.
And now after winning the lottery, this Florida woman learned her luck just ran out.
Too good to be true
Americans love the thrill and the possibility of “making it big” and winning the lottery.
It is an adrenaline rush many people crave, so they squander money buying tickets hoping to score their “pathway to riches.”
Of course, they lose money and they do not usually win anything.
Except one woman did win, not once, not twice, but nine times!
Talk about luck!
Except not really, and now the “lucky” lottery winner is behind bars.
Once a con – always a con
Sometimes criminals spend time behind bars and have a change of heart.
But not usually.
And a 38-year-old ex-con (on probation) proved that some crooks just cannot stop breaking the law.
The woman wanted to get cash quickly, but instead of working hard and moving up the ladder like everyone else she resorted to theft.
But it backfired.
Big-time.
The Florida woman was busted when she was caught stealing lottery tickets and then trying to immediately cash them in.
According to law enforcement officers, the woman reached behind the counter of a Circle K and stole 48 lottery tickets.
Insanity!
But then, she was stupid enough to think she would not get caught.
Or perhaps she was arrogant.
Regardless, her “path to riches” backfired.
Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd spoke on the incident and said, “She went in a convenience store, reached over the counter and stole a whole lot of lottery tickets,” the Miami Herald reported.
Then, the woman had the “bright idea” to take all her stolen tickets to another store hoping to cash them in and win big.
But just the opposite happened.
“She didn’t win the lottery, but she did win a trip to the county jail,” Sheriff Judd continued.
I mean, did the woman really think she would not get caught?
Leave it to crooks and thieves to think they are above the law.
Foolish and impatient
According to the sheriff’s office, it was the woman’s own impatience that did her in.
Instead of waiting, the woman immediately started cashing in the stolen tickets, the Miami Herald reported.
And now, instead of riding off into the sunset, she is charged with unarmed burglary, obtaining property by fraud, grand theft, and a probation violation.
Some criminals just have to repeat the same life lesson repeatedly.
