A former Fox News star turned on Donald Trump with one sick betrayal

Mar 12, 2025

Donald Trump has fought a hostile media since he entered politics.

Even friendly networks are filled with turncoats.

And a former Fox News star turned on Donald Trump with one sick betrayal.

Media fumes at Donald Trump over the Gulf of America

President Donald Trump issued an executive order on his first day in office, renaming the Gulf of Mexico the Gulf of America.

This simple act caused Democrats and their media allies to lose their minds.

The Associated Press refused to use Gulf of America or change it in their stylebook.

Journalists have used the Associated Press Stylebook for decades because it sets the standard for best practices in writing.

The Trump White House banned the Associated Press from being a part of the press pool that had access to the Oval Office and Air Force One because the outlet refused to use the Gulf of America.

Journalists framed this as an assault on the freedom of the press, but it was the Associated Press playing games because the outlet does not like Trump.

The Associated Press went along with a request from Ukraine’s government to change the spelling of the country’s capital from Kiev to Kyiv.

Former President Barack Obama renamed Mount McKinley to Mount Denali, which Trump changed back, and the Associated Press never protested the name change.

Former Fox News star takes a shot at Trump

CBS News Chief Washington Correspondent Major Garrett was the Fox News White House Correspondent during the Obama Presidency before he left to join the left-wing media.

Garrett attacked Trump over banning the Associated Press from the press pool during a panel discussion held by NOTUS.

“The spat with the AP fundamentally makes the President look much weaker than I think he realizes,” Garrett said. “He doesn’t need to keep the AP out. Come on. That is undercutting everything he said last night about removing censorship and government control over speech and access.”

Trump touted ending government censorship and supporting free speech during his address to a joint session of Congress.

Limiting the access of the Associated Press is not censoring what they can publish.

Dozens of major media outlets are excluded from the 13-member press pool because of limited space.

Garrett wants to make the Associated Press look like the victim when they are trying to push misinformation by using the wrong name for the Gulf of America.

The former Fox News star predicted that Trump would eventually back down in the fight.

Now the White House will find itself trying to dial this in and out,” Garrett claimed. “And I think for a while they’ll like it. But I think over a while. Based on my knowledge of the President, he’ll get bored with it because it makes him look weak.”

Freedom of the press does not mean that journalists have a constitutional right to go into the Oval Office and ask Trump questions.

The Associated Press wanted to start a spat with the Trump White House, and they are paying the price for playing games.
