Parents sending their kids to the bus stop shouldn't have to worry about violent criminals roaming the streets.
But in DeLand, Florida, Tuesday morning, a homeless man attacked a 13-year-old boy waiting for school.
A Good Samaritan in Florida stopped a knife-wielding maniac that prosecutors had released from jail just eight days earlier.
Christopher Schwable Was Released January 13 After Charges Were Dropped
Christopher Steven Schwable, 36, walked up to a school bus stop at Clear Lake Drive and North Spring Garden Avenue around 8:22 a.m. Tuesday.
The homeless man grabbed a 13-year-old seventh-grader from Southwestern Middle School by the throat and started choking him.
"He tried hitting me and punching me a bunch," the boy told police on body camera footage.
The boy's mother is too shaken to let him take the bus alone anymore.
Schwable spent more than three weeks in the Volusia County Jail on charges of indecent exposure and drug paraphernalia possession after his December 2025 arrest.
Prosecutors dropped both charges on January 13.
Eight days later, Schwable was attacking a child at a bus stop.

Witness Grabbed Toolbox And Took Down Knife-Wielding Attacker
A driver who knew the boy saw what was happening and made a U-turn.
He grabbed his toolbox not knowing if Schwable was armed.
When the witness confronted Schwable, the homeless man pulled a folding knife from his sleeve.
"He stopped that man in his path," Schwable told the witness before raising the blade.
The witness struck Schwable twice with the toolbox and wrestled him to the ground.
"I got my toolbox out to defend against him, and I tackled his ass down," the good Samaritan said on body camera footage.
Police arrived to find Schwable face-down in the road bleeding from his head.
Officers recovered the green-and-black folding knife from underneath him.
The 13-year-old had a cut on his finger where Schwable grabbed him.
Florida's Revolving Door Justice System Put This Child In Danger
Schwable now sits in jail on $5,000 bond facing aggravated child abuse and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charges.
His first court appearance got moved from Wednesday to Thursday because the judge cited "behavioral issues."
The same behavioral issues that were fine when prosecutors dropped his charges eight days earlier.

Prosecutors had Schwable locked up for more than three weeks on indecent exposure and drug paraphernalia.
Then they let him walk.
Eight days later he's attacking a child with a knife.
That 13-year-old is lucky someone drove by at the right moment.
The prosecutors who dropped those charges put this predator back on the streets.
