Charlie Kirk's assassination on September 10 shocked the nation and brought Americans together in mourning.
But one Florida school board official saw his death as an opportunity to spew hatred.
And a school board VP's vile attack on Charlie Kirk has Governor Ron DeSantis seeing red.
Alachua County official called Kirk "uneducated white boy" after his murder
Alachua County School Board Vice Chair Tina Certain posted on her personal Facebook account just days after Charlie Kirk was gunned down while speaking at Utah Valley University.
"I didn't watch any of that Trump rally," Certain wrote about Kirk's memorial service held by President Trump. "I went to see an elder [because of] the weight of it all — how a 31yr old uneducated white boy has been glorified. He has an organization [because] a millionaire gave him money and connections to start it. To see the feds & state elevate him angers me."¹
Kirk founded Turning Point USA at age 18 and built it into the largest conservative youth organization in America through sheer force of will and determination.
He inspired millions of young Americans to stand up for their values and never apologize for loving their country.
But Certain saw fit to dismiss Kirk's legacy by attacking his race and education level while his family was still grieving.
The backlash was swift and severe.
U.S. Representative Kat Cammack called on Certain to resign immediately.
Florida Education Commissioner Anastasios Kamoutsas — a DeSantis appointee known for fighting radical ideologies in education — summoned Certain to appear before the state Board of Education to answer for her comments.

DeSantis' education team exposes pattern of racist posts
The November 13 hearing in Crawfordville turned into a reckoning for Certain.
Commissioner Kamoutsas didn't pull any punches.
"I've been horrified and outraged by public posts and comments coming from Vice Chair Certain," Kamoutsas told the board. "Your leadership continues to be a failure. You continue to not understand the point this state board is trying to communicate to you. You are an example to these children. You are an elected member of a school board, setting policy that impacts their daily lives."²
The state board exposed a disturbing pattern.
Kamoutsas revealed that Certain had posted she would "avoid all Asian owned stores" because of a past negative experience.³
She also liked a post claiming "white women have always been central to building, maintaining and protecting racial violence."⁴
Board Member Daniel Foganholi hammered home the hypocrisy.

"Words matter, tone matters, and there is no difference between a personal Facebook page and a political Facebook page," Foganholi stated. "Your name is your name, you are that representative all the time."⁵
Board Member Grazie Christie delivered what may have been the most devastating rebuke.
"Remember that the cure for racism is not more racism in the opposite direction," Christie told Certain. "And number two, when you are going to post anything and say something publicly, replace the word white or Asian with black, and then hear it in your head and see how that would feel to you and to the people that you love."⁶
Certain tried to defend herself by claiming Kirk used racial language first, so she was just throwing his words back at him.
But nobody was buying it.
Foganholi pointed out that roughly 52% of Alachua County residents don't hold a college degree, meaning Certain's "uneducated white boy" comment was a slap in the face to more than half her constituents.⁷
Leftist educator refuses to apologize despite being exposed
Certain wore a shirt to the hearing that read "Slavery did not benefit Black people" — a reference to Florida's Social Studies standards that she opposes.⁸

She came ready for a fight, not to take accountability.
Certain claimed her First Amendment rights protected her racist rants because she made them on her personal Facebook page.
"I will not relinquish my First Amendment rights, and that will not force me to canonize Mr. Kirk, or anyone else who disparages me or wants to oppress me or my people," Certain declared.⁹
She refused to apologize.
Board Chair Ryan Petty confronted Certain about a statement she allegedly made at a previous board meeting: "We live in a country of laws, but the laws ain't always the right thing to do."¹⁰
Petty asked how the community could trust her commitment to upholding the law after such a statement.
Certain said she didn't recall making the comment and refused to answer, citing advice from her attorney.
The Alachua County School District is paying for Certain's legal representation with taxpayer dollars.

This is what conservative parents and taxpayers are up against in Florida's most liberal county.
Alachua County is one of only six Florida counties that voted against President Trump in 2024.¹¹
The district has become a case study in how the radical Left operates when they control local school boards.
Kamoutsas made clear this pattern of behavior won't be tolerated.
"There are 67 school districts in this state and while I'm certain they're not perfect, there is only one that is failing repeatedly having been referred to this board multiple times for corrective action," Kamoutsas stated.¹²
This isn't even the first time an Alachua County school board member attacked a conservative figure after their death.
Another board member, Sarah Rockwell, posted "Good, one less MAGA in the world" after WWE legend Hulk Hogan died.¹³
The state board previously found that Certain and the Alachua board violated a parent's First Amendment rights during a contentious meeting where the parent tried to speak about Rockwell's comments.¹⁴
Governor Ron DeSantis hand-picked Kamoutsas specifically to root out this kind of radical ideology in Florida schools.
"Stasi Kamoutsas has delivered on important issues like parental rights, school choice, and fighting back against radical ideologies in education," DeSantis said when recommending Kamoutsas for Education Commissioner.¹⁵
Kamoutsas is doing exactly what DeSantis hired him to do — holding the line against woke school boards that put ideology over students.

Board Member Layla Collins summed up the problem perfectly.
"What I'm hearing is the pattern existed for a long time and it's continuing and I find that to be very concerning," Collins said. "And then with the recent post we discussed, I don't even see a willingness to do better."¹⁶
Charlie Kirk dedicated his life to inspiring young people to love America and stand up for conservative values.
He was murdered for those beliefs while speaking at a college campus.
And a school board official who's supposed to be educating children saw fit to attack his memory with racist language.
The fact that Certain refuses to apologize and hides behind the First Amendment shows exactly why parents don't trust radical leftists to educate their children.
DeSantis and Kamoutsas are sending a clear message: if you're going to serve on a school board in Florida, you will treat all students and families with respect regardless of their political beliefs.
Or you'll answer to the state.
