A woman was relaxing on a Florida beach when the worst moment of her vacation happened

A vacation to Florida in the winter is the perfect opportunity to escape the cold weather.

One trip went wrong in the most unexpected way.

And a woman was relaxing on a Florida beach when the worst moment of her vacation happened.

New York woman gets run over by a car on a Florida beach

A 71-year-old woman from New York thought she had found the perfect way to escape the dreary winter weather of the northeast.

She took a vacation to Daytona Beach to enjoy some fun in the sun.

The New York woman was reclining in her beach chair and enjoying her vacation when a freak accident happened.

Her head was run over by the right tire of a Chevrolet Colorado truck.

The incident happened at around 3:00 pm on a weekday after the New York woman set up her beach chair near the Silver Beach Avenue beach ramp.

Her husband called 911 after watching his wife get run over by the truck.

“Hurry up! She ran over her head!” the woman’s husband said on the 911 call.

“You alright?” the husband asked his wife.

“No,” the wife replied.

“She’s talking but she’s not alright,” the husband told the 911 operator.

Woman survives getting run over by a truck

The New York woman miraculously survived having her head run over by a truck.

She was rushed to the Halifax Health Medical Center where she was in stable condition with non-life-threatening wounds to her head.

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office arrived on the scene to discover an 84-year-old woman from DeLeon Springs, Florida had been driving the truck.

“The driver … remained on scene and cooperated fully with the investigation. She said she was not aware she struck anyone until she was chased down by a witness,” Volusia County Sheriff’s deputies said in a report. “There were no signs of impairment.”

“These are the initial details gathered during the early stages of the crash investigation, which is active and continuing,” the Volusia County Sheriff’s deputies added.

The 84-year-old woman pulled her truck out of a parking spot and made “an immediate right turn toward the beach exit, did not see the woman in her chair, and struck her with the truck’s right rear tire, which then ran over her head.”

Sheriff’s deputies said that the woman did not show any signs of impairment when they interrogated her.

Silver Beach is one of the rare beaches in the country where residents and tourists are allowed to drive on it.

Non-residents of Volusia County must pay a $30 fee per day to drive on the beach.

Only certain areas of the beach can be driven on, and the speed limit is less than 10 miles per hour.

Normally, drugs or alcohol are the culprit when an accident happens on the beach in Volusia County, which is home to the spring break hotspot of Daytona Beach.

Being able to survive being run over by a truck was a miracle for the New York woman.
