An NFL player spoke three words about Tom Brady’s broadcasting career that shocked him

Tom Brady has been heavily scrutinized during his first season as a broadcaster.

His transition to the booth has not been as smooth as anticipated.

And an NFL player spoke three words about Tom Brady’s broadcasting career that shocked him.

Fox analyst Greg Olsen admits it is hard watching Tom Brady in the broadcast booth

Seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady’s first season as a color analyst for Fox’s NFL coverage has been filled with controversy.

He signed a 10-year contract for a reported $375 million to become the lead analyst next to play-by-play man Kevin Burkhardt.

Fans had high expectations for Brady after the success that former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo had after becoming a broadcaster.

He has struggled to meet the elevated expectations set for him.

Fans and members of the sports media have criticized Brady’s coverage of games and wondered if his heart is really in it.

Brady made a couple of blunders that went viral on social media during his NFL wildcard playoff game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers.

“[You have] three timeouts, so you’d have a couple plays,” Brady said. “But I like this call by the Phillies, excuse me, by Philly.”

The Phillies are Philadelphia’s Major League Baseball (MLB) team.

Brady later referred to Packers running back Josh Jacobs as Brandon Jacobs, a running back who has been retired since 2013.

Those gaffes created a feeding frenzy on social media.

Brady has also faced questions about having a conflict of interest after he became a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders last fall.

Fox analyst Greg Olsen admits it is hard watching Tom Brady in the broadcast booth

Brady replaced former Carolina Panthers tight end Greg Olsen as the lead color analyst for Fox Sports.

Olsen worked his way up as a broadcaster and became a fan favorite in the booth.

He told The Athletic in an interview that it is hard to watch games that Brady calls after he got bumped out of that spot.

“I don’t think resentment’s probably accurate,” Olsen said. “But I also think it’s not too far off if I’m being honest.”

Olsen said that he does not hold any ill will toward his colleagues.

“I don’t have any ill will — there’s no personal resentment towards Tom or, obviously, K.B. (Kevin Burkhardt) and Erin (Andrews),” Olsen explained. “I still talk to all of them fairly regularly. I’m hoping to see them next week down in New Orleans and grab dinner or a drink and just kind of shoot the s***, catch up.”

He admitted that he wonders how he would have covered some of Brady’s games as a broadcaster.

“But yeah, it’s hard to sit there and watch games that over the last couple of years you were preparing for, and you were calling,” Olsen said. “And then you’re sitting there on your couch and you’re watching the game, you’re almost kind of broadcasting the game in your brain. You’re saying, ‘Oh, man, what would I have said on this play? There was so much to talk about there. That would’ve been super fun to dive into.”

Tom Brady insists that he is in it for the long haul as a broadcaster despite the scrutiny over his first season.

He will have Olsen’s old spot in the broadcast booth when he calls the Super Bowl on Fox with Kevin Burkhardt.

DeSantis Daily will keep you up-to-date on any new developments in this story.
