Anna Paulina Luna asked Donald Trump for one move that would change Florida forever

Florida has become the epicenter of conservative politics under Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis.

It is poised for an innovative transformation.

And Anna Paulina Luna asked Donald Trump for one move that would change Florida forever.

Donald Trump asked to move NASA’s headquarters to Florida

The Space Coast in Florida is home to the Kennedy Space Center and the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.

Every manned space flight launched by NASA from 1961 until the end of the Space Shuttle program in 2011 was made from one of those two bases.

The Kennedy Space Center and the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station are used by Elon Musk’s SpaceX as orbital launch sites.

Florida is one of the top states in the country for space travel.

Representative Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) wants to move NASA’s headquarters from Washington, D.C. to Florida.

She wrote a letter to President Donald Trump arguing that NASA would be better positioned for the future being based in Florida.

“I write to you in support of relocating NASA’s Headquarters from Washington, D.C. to Florida’s Space Coast,” Luna wrote. “While Washington, D.C., has historically been the home of NASA’s headquarters, the rapidly evolving space landscape demands a more integrated and efficient approach to space policy.”

The importance of the Space Coast is growing with the rise of private space travel through companies like SpaceX, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin, and others.

Private space companies have eclipsed NASA in the number of launches.

“Florida’s Space Coast, home to key facilities like the Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, is uniquely positioned to support this transformation and strengthen America’s leadership in space exploration,” Luna explained.

“Given the accelerating pace of developments in both the public and private space sectors, I believe that relocating NASA’s headquarters to Florida would offer significant strategic, economic, and logistical advantages to NASA and the United States,” Luna added.

Florida’s long history of being involved in space travel

Luna highlighted the history of Florida’s role in space exploration dating back to the early days of NASA.

“Florida’s Space Coast has long been a cornerstone of the U.S. space program. From the Apollo missions to the Space Shuttle era, Florida has been integral to the success of NASA’s most historic endeavors,” Luna stated.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said that NASA headquarters should be moved to the Kennedy Space Center earlier this year.

Biden’s NASA director Bill Nelson, a former Florida Democrat Senator, expressed interest in the idea according to DeSantis.

“I was talking to the director before we came out here, there is interest in moving the headquarters of NASA to Kennedy Space Center and I’m supportive of that,” DeSantis said. “They have this massive building in D.C. and like nobody goes to it. So why not just shutter it and move everyone down here. Hopefully, with the new administration coming in, they’ll see a great opportunity to headquarter NASA on the Space Coast.”

Donald Trump supports moving government agencies out of Washington, D.C.

NASA could be on the move if he takes the advice of Luna and DeSantis.
