The holiday season could be upended by another disaster by the Biden-Harris administration.
Everyone is racing to stop this ticking bomb from going off.
And Byron Donalds asked one scary question about this pending Biden-Harris catastrophe.
Byron Donalds wonders where Joe Biden is to stop major strikes at ports
The International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA), which represents dockworkers, is prepared to shut down every port from the Gulf of Mexico to Maine with a strike on October 1 unless it receives a new contract.
ILA members voted to hit the picket line if the United States Maritime Alliance (USMX), the group representing port owners, does not cave to their demands.
Shutting down every port on the East Coast would cause a massive disruption to the supply chain and cost the economy billions of dollars a day.
Representative Byron Donalds (R-FL) warned that the potential strike would “send shockwaves through the pocketbooks” of Americans by increasing prices.
He wondered where the leadership was from the Biden-Harris administration on the potential port strike during an appearance on the Fox News show The Faulkner Focus.
“The bigger question is why isn’t the Biden and Harris administration trying to do anything about this,” Donalds said. “They should be getting involved now.”
Donalds accused the Biden-Harris administration of inaction while Americans were staring down another hit to their wallets.
“That’s what presidential leadership looks like, and the fact that they’re going to sit on the sidelines and watch is frankly reminiscent of the rest of their economic policy,” Donalds explained. “They sit on the sidelines, they put in bad policy, and they do not respond when the harm hits the pocketbooks of every American.”
Joe Biden stands with the Union Bosses over the American people
Donalds said that a port strike in the Gulf Coast and East Coast could cost the economy as much as $5 billion a day.
He added that this would be another financial blow to inflation-wearing Americans.
“But this is where the executive branch has purview,” Donalds said. “Congress has delegated that authority and given the ability for the president to step in. Where is he? And, quite frankly, where is she?”
Donalds noted that West Coast ports would not be able to handle the sheer volume of cargo rerouted from the East Coast during a potential strike.
The Biden-Harris administration put out a statement that said President Joe Biden would not intervene to stop the dockworkers from going out on strike.
Biden could use the Taft-Hartley Act to impose an 80-day cooling period that would extend negotiations between the ILA and USMX while requiring the dockworkers to show up to work.
He and Vice President Kamala Harris are in the back pocket of Big Labor who helped get them elected.
An administration official said that the President would not stop the strike.
“Since taking office, the Biden-Harris Administration has developed a comprehensive whole-of-government approach to monitor and mitigate potential supply chain impacts, from severe weather to transport service interruptions to this spring’s Key Bridge collapse in Baltimore,” a Biden-Harris official said. “We’ve never invoked Taft-Hartley to break a strike and are not considering doing so now.”
A port strike would be a nasty October surprise that would disrupt the supply chain and cause prices to spike.
