Florida’s legislative session adjourned on Friday.
All eyes are now turning to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and his plans for 2024.
And CNN revealed 14 reasons why Ron DeSantis is loved by conservatives and hated by leftists.
The Republican-dominated state legislature just finished its first legislative session of Ron DeSantis’ second term.
After narrowly winning by 0.04% in 2018, DeSantis went on to crush Charlie Crist in a 19-point landslide reelection victory that armed him with a supermajority in the state legislature.
In his second Inaugural Address, DeSantis vowed to use the mandate voters gave him to fight for a conservative, pro-freedom agenda in Florida.
“Now fighting for freedom is not easy because the threats to freedom are more complex and more widespread than in the past – the threats can come from entrenched bureaucrats in D.C., jet-setters in Davos, and corporations wielding public power,” DeSantis said. “But fight we must.”
And that is exactly what DeSantis did during the legislative session, achieving several major victories for conservatives against the Left.
Ron DeSantis’ willingness to fight and his ability to win against the Left made him a top contender for the GOP nomination in 2024.
But while conservatives hold DeSantis up as a hero, the Left hates him as much as they do Donald Trump.
In a recent CNN op-ed, columnist Steve Contorno revealed at least 14 reasons why the Democrats and left-wing media despise Ron DeSantis.
Contorno began by noting that insiders have been claiming that DeSantis was waiting on the legislative session to adjourn to launch his Presidential campaign.
Now that the session is over, Contorno said, “the countdown to DeSantis’ Presidential campaign begins.”
Contorno then gave a summary of 14 major policy victories DeSantis signed into law this legislative session that will serve as “a potential platform for his White House run.”
And the 14 policies are the reason why conservatives view DeSantis as a hero.
“Abortion in Florida will be banned after six weeks with limited exceptions,” Contorno wrote. “Permits and training won’t be required to carry a concealed gun in public,” he continued, before adding that “a new law allows eight jurors to send someone to death row, the lowest threshold in the nation; another allows child rapists to be executed, in defiance of a US Supreme Court ruling.”
Apparently, protecting the life of the unborn, defending the Second Amendment, and making child rapists pay the ultimate price for their heinous crime makes DeSantis an evil man.
Of course, that was just a small part of the conservative victories DeSantis achieved this session.
He also signed a bill cracking down on illegal immigration, prohibiting banks from engaging in woke political activism, protecting election integrity, and breaking the teachers union monopoly on education.
“A bill headed to DeSantis’ desk prohibits undocumented individuals from becoming a lawyer in Florida,” Contorno wrote. “Banks can be punished for declining to lend to someone on moral or political grounds, voter registration groups could face steep fines if they run afoul of strict new rules for signing up people to vote,” he continued, adding that “it will be harder for teachers unions to organize and keep members.”
“Universities will have to shutter diversity programs,” Contorno whined.
He also pushed the big lie that “transgender children won’t be able to get gender affirming treatment nor can transgender teachers use their preferred pronouns at school.”
By “gender-affirming treatment,” Contorno means performing sex-change operations and giving life-altering hormone treatments to young children after brainwashing them with transgenderism.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis promised to push forward with his bold conservative agenda after voters handed him a mandate.
DeSantis followed through and achieved virtually all of his goals for the legislative session.
Now the entire country is waiting on him to make his announcement.
