The State House and Senate just entered a special legislative session at the request of Ron DeSantis to tackle a number of important issues.
Lawmakers are planning to restructure the Reedy Creek Improvement District that was stripped from Disney after the company tried to stop the Parental Rights in Education Bill.
A proposal to enhance the ability of the statewide prosecutor to bring election crime charges is expected in the special session, as well as a bill to provide more relief money for Hurricane Ian and Nicole recovery efforts.
But Democrats are furious over one request Ron DeSantis just made from the Republican leaders in the state legislature.
Last September, DeSantis showed Biden he was serious about protecting his state from the border crisis when he sent two planes carrying 50 illegal aliens to the wealthy island of Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts.
DeSantis recently declared a state of emergency and activated the National Guard after 1,500 illegal aliens landed in the Florida Keys over New Year’s weekend.
But DeSantis requested $12 million in the special session to continue his “initiative to protect Floridians against the harms resulting from illegal immigration by facilitating the transport of unauthorized aliens.”
Named the “Unauthorized Alien Transport Program,” the bill would allocate $12 million for covering “all costs associated with facilitating the transport of inspected unauthorized aliens, including, but not limited to the costs of litigation.”
Democrats and their media allies viciously attacked DeSantis after he sent the two planes of illegal aliens to Massachusetts in September.
Gavin Newsom and other high-profile Democrats called for Merrick Garland to arrest DeSantis on kidnapping charges over the flights.
But DeSantis is a fighter.
And Biden’s border crisis is only growing worse with the administration refusing to address the problem.
So DeSantis is about to try to get Biden’s attention by sending more illegal aliens to sanctuary cities controlled by pro-open border Democrats.
