DeSantis owned New York in an epic take down of the Empire State’s rulers

May 20, 2022

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is separating himself from the crowd and standing out as arguably the best Governor in the United States.

And the Left hates him for it.

America’s Governor is now comparing his record in Florida to what residents of New York are suffering through – and it’s not a pretty picture for New York Governor Kathy Hochul.

When comparing states, New York vs. Florida could be the quintessential comparison.

They’re similar in size, but their political leaders are diametrically opposed in political philosophy.

And the records between the two states paint a clear picture for voters.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis highlighted the differences in a recent press conference.

Florida’s budget is $131.5 Billion.

New York has about three-million fewer people than the Sunshine State, but has an operating budget of about $240 Billion – nearly twice that of Florida’s.

And as DeSantis points out, Florida residents are reaping far more rewards than those living in the Big Apple.

“And yet, we have better roads, better services, better performing K-12 schools and the top-rated public university system in the United States,” Governor DeSantis said. “And we do all that with no state income tax and the lowest per-capita tax burden in the country.”

Meanwhile, New Yorkers have the highest tax burden in all of America according to a study by Wallet Hub.

In fact, residents of the Empire State shoulder a 12.75% tax burden – nearly double the taxes paid in total by Floridians.

Furthermore, DeSantis has the luxury of either storing up some money in a rainy-day fund, or sending some back to his constituents, because under his leadership, the Sunshine State has raked up a massive budget surplus.

“We are going to end this fiscal year, on June 30, with a $131.5 Billion budget, we’re going to have a surplus of over $20 Billion,” Gov. DeSantis reported. “That’s the largest (budget surplus) in the history of the state of Florida.”

How much of a surplus is un-elected New York Governor Kathy Hochul expecting?

Zero dollars.

In fact, according to Bloomberg News, Governor Hochul doesn’t have a surplus at all, she’s actually created a $2.9 Billion budget shortfall in the past fiscal year.

Governor Hochul has previously been critical of DeSantis’ governing style – especially when he signed a life-saving ban on abortions after 15-weeks of pregnancy.

“Smiling from ear to ear as he rips away the reproductive rights of Floridians,” Governor Hochul tweeted. “It’s cruel and despicable. To anyone seeking abortion care, know that you are welcome in New York.”

According to a Siena College Research from late April, Governor Hochul enjoys a miserable approval rating of 36% among New York voters – one of the few politicians who have to actually look up to President Joe Biden’s approval numbers.

DeSantis, on the other hand, has an approval rating in the mid-50’s according to a CNN from around that same time.

And you know CNN just had to love reporting that fact.
