Ron DeSantis is the only thing standing in the way of Donald Trump securing the GOP nomination for a third time.
Even though DeSantis has yet to announce, Trump and his surrogates have been lobbing attacks at America’s Governor.
And Donald Trump blew a gasket when he heard what his former attorney said about his campaign.
According to ex-Trump attorney Jenna Ellis, some of Trump’s senior advisors are terrified of Ron DeSantis.
In an interview with Newsweek, Ellis pulled no punches going after Trump’s campaign team.
“The fact that Governor DeSantis, who is not a Presidential candidate, has been the central focus of every smearing attack ad by the former president and his team is evidence that they fear him,” she said. “A team that claims to be winning by ‘a lot,’ but has to lie and smear the most popular Republican governor in the country, is not a confident team.”
She said that his team is especially concerned, saying Trump losing the nomination would make many on his team “chronically unemployable losers.”
If true, that could mean the inner workings of the Trump campaign have some serious problems.
Competent political operatives have no trouble finding work after working on failed political campaigns.
This would suggest that Trump is hiring “yes men” rather than “the best people.”
She also took aim at the ties many on the Trump campaign have to the Washington, D.C. Swamp.
RINO Senator Lindsey Graham is heading up Trump’s campaign in South Carolina, and three of the campaign’s staffers have previously worked for the Bush family.
Ellis pointed out that “Trump and his people are the ones who say [former Florida Governor Jeb] Bush and Swamp ties disqualify you from the Republican Party.”
Ellis served as a legal advisor on Trump’s 2020 campaign, so she has an insider’s knowledge of Trump’s political machine.
While recent polls have shown Trump with a lead over DeSantis, a lot can change between now and when the first ballots are cast in February.
While the Trump campaign has relentlessly attacked DeSantis, the Governor has so far refrained from punching back.
But that is likely to change when DeSantis officially tosses his hat into the ring.
