Ron DeSantis made his Presidential announcement on Twitter and literally broke the social media platform.
Meanwhile Donald Trump and his forces attempted a counterattack on Truth Social.
But Donald Trump had a bizarre reaction to Ron DeSantis’ announcement that had people scratching their heads.
Ron DeSantis formally announced his Presidential campaign on the Twitter “Spaces” platform.
However, the much-anticipated announcement was spoiled by a series of technical difficulties that caused the event to be delayed by more than 30 minutes.
As one pundit put it, “DeSantis just broke Twitter.”
Trump attacks
To no one’s surprise, former President Donald Trump took to his own social media platform, Truth Social, to attack Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
But Trump’s post was so bizarre it sparked more confusion than applause.
“‘Rob,’ My Red Button is bigger, better, stronger, and is working (TRUTH!), yours does not! (per my conversation with Kim Jung Un, of North Korea, soon to become my friend!),” Trump said in the bizarre post.
Matthew Brodsky, a political strategist and senior fellow at the Gold Institute for International Strategy tweeted his response to Trump’s post and simply said, “Bonkers.”
“Nobody thinks this is sane; they’re just afraid to admit it,” said David Reaboi, a political commentator and fellow at the Claremont Institute.
Immediately a top contender
Ron DeSantis’ official campaign launch came after months of speculation about whether he would join the race or not.
Most political observers believe his announcement immediately makes him a top contender to win the Republican nomination next year.
In fact, most polls show that DeSantis is the only candidate who can even give Trump a run for his money.
DeSantis, showing he is still willing to fight the Left, used his announcement to punch back at the NAACP’s recent travel advisory targeting his state.
The radical left-wing NAACP announced it would issue a formal travel advisory warning Black Americans against visiting Florida.
During his Presidential announcement, DeSantis blasted the travel advisory as nothing more than a “political stunt” before bragging about Florida’s low crime rates and high number of black-owned businesses.
The comments by DeSantis came during a Twitter “Spaces” platform during which he officially announced his Presidential campaign.
“Claiming that Florida is unsafe is a total farce,” DeSantis remarked. “I mean, are you kidding me? You look at cities around this country, they are awash in crime. In Florida, our crime rate is at a 50-year low. You look at the top 25 cities for crime in America, Florida does not have a single one amongst the top 25.”
Trump ignores issues
While DeSantis talked issues and talked up Florida’s successes, Trump launched his bizarre attack on the Florida Governor and rival.
Trump, in most of his attacks on DeSantis largely ignores issues and instead sticks to bizarre and sometimes comical attacks on DeSantis, his supporters, and the state of Florida, in which he resides.
Now that DeSantis has announced things are heating up.
Expect more attacks soon, maybe even ones that make sense to someone.
