Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis were once close allies.
But now they are on a collision course.
And now Donald Trump just made one insane admission about Ron DeSantis.
Polls show Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and Donald Trump are running neck and neck for the 2024 GOP nomination even though DeSantis is not even a declared candidate.
The latest CNN poll even showed DeSantis holding a narrow lead over Trump 39 to 37 percent among registered voters, which was inside the poll’s four percent margin of error.
DeSantis and Trump had their first unofficial faceoff this past weekend as both held dueling events in the key state of Iowa.
On the flight to Iowa, Trump held court with reporters and launched an unprovoked attack on DeSantis.
Trump went after DeSantis over Trump endorsing DeSantis in the 2018 Florida Gubernatorial primary.
“He was dead as a dog, he was a dead politician. He would have been working perhaps for a law firm or doing something else,” Trump stated.
Trump’s endorsement shot DeSantis to the top of the pack and eventually winning the primary and Governor’s mansion.
“Yeah maybe, this guy was dead. He was dead as a doornail. […] I might say that,” Trump added.
“I said ‘You are so dead right now you are not going, no endorsement is going to save you. George Washington won’t save you.’ He said, ‘I’m telling you, if you endorse me, I have a chance,’” Trump added.
Trump then claimed sole credit for DeSantis’ political career.
“Remember this: If it weren’t for me, Ron DeSanctimonious would right now be working probably at a law firm, or maybe a Pizza Hut, I don’t know,” Trump concluded.
DeSantis is one of the biggest stars in the Republican Party thanks to his own record as a conservative champion and fighter.
It was DeSantis who led the red state pushback against Dr. Fauci.
DeSantis paved the way for Republicans to fight wokeism in schools and corporate America.
The Florida Governor killed two birds with one stone when he first signed legislation banning teachers from brainwashing kids in grades K through 3 into transgenderism.
When then Disney CEO Bob Chapek called for the bill’s defeat, DeSantis then signed legislation stripping Disney of its special governing privileges.
DeSantis rose in the polls because Republicans saw him as a fighter who achieves victories on behalf of the conservative cause.
Now DeSantis is set to enter the Presidential race.
Trump sees DeSantis rising in the polls as voters see DeSantis as the next evolution of the Trump revolution.
And that’s why Trump furiously lashed out about DeSantis on his way to Iowa.
