Florida announces they are launching their own DOGE
Tesla CEO Elon Musk and his work with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has exposed corrupt and wasteful spending auditing the federal government.
DOGE’s transparency is revealing just how bad the waste, fraud, and abuse in the federal government has become.
Democrats and their allies in the media are furiously attacking Musk’s work as illegal and a waste of time.
But the Tesla CEO’s work with DOGE is inspiring states to take action.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced the creation of the Florida State Department of Governmental Efficiency (DOGE) task force to save taxpayers money by eliminating wasteful government spending.
He noted that his state has never been in fiscal bad health, but there was always more work to be done.
“We always want to get better, and so we looked to see what Musk is doing with the DOGE in Washington, D.C.,” DeSantis said.
DeSantis wants Florida to harness artificial intelligence (AI) technology like DOGE has been using.
“And the one thing I think that they are doing that we need to incorporate is to utilize and leverage technology like artificial intelligence to be able to police the payments and the operations and the contracts that are done in government,” DeSantis stated.
He said that AI could make sorting through a pile of government contracts more efficient.
“For example, we have people that review these contracts, and if there is DEI, they nix it and things like that. But this is some high-powered stuff, and I think it would be able to provide us with some good information,” DeSantis added. “We have already been doing this stuff. This will really help enhance that.”
Florida’s DOGE will look to eliminate 70 boards and commissions that are no longer needed, audit college and universities to identify wasteful spending, and look for ways to eliminate bureaucracy at state agencies.
“We are creating a state DOGE task force that will implement a multi-pronged approach to eliminating bureaucratic bloat and modernizing our state government to best serve the people of Florida in the years ahead,” DeSantis explained.
Like the federal DOGE, Florida’s has a set end date.
“This will be – similar to the federal DOGE – a limited amount of time. It will be a one-year term. It will sunset following the completion of the mission,” DeSantis added.
A movement to create state-level DOGE efforts is growing
Oklahoma, Iowa, Georgia, Kentucky, Missouri, Texas, and New Hampshire also announced that they were launching efforts similar to DOGE in their states.
Improving government efficiency and eliminating wasteful spending is extremely popular with voters.
Republican strategist Jesse Hunt said that DOGE has created energy on the Right to go after government waste.
“Politics can trickle down, and I think there is a lot of energy behind what DOGE is doing and their mission,” Hunt said.
Democrats found themselves on the wrong side of an issue supported by the vast majority of the public.
Elon Musk is creating a movement to make the government more accountable to the taxpayers who fund it.
