Monique Worrell’s track record on protecting kids just hit a new low.
The radical leftist prosecutor who got booted by Governor DeSantis is back to her old tricks.
And Florida AG James Uthmeier dropped the hammer on this woke prosecutor after one disgusting child predator deal that will leave parents furious.
The Child Molester Who Got a Free Pass
State Attorney Monique Worrell has made a career out of going easy on criminals – especially the worst ones.
But her latest decision crossed a line that should horrify every parent in Florida.
Peter Washington was already a convicted child predator when he struck again in 2023.
This wasn’t some first-time offender who made a mistake.
Washington had been convicted back in 1995 for attempting to rape a child under 12 years old.
Nearly three decades later, he was back at it – this time targeting children over 12 with multiple counts of lewd and lascivious molestation.
Under Florida’s Criminal Punishment Code, these new charges should have landed Washington behind bars for 27 years to life in prison.
That’s exactly what the legislature intended when they wrote these laws – to keep serial predators away from children permanently.
Worrell’s Sweetheart Deal for a Serial Predator
Instead of throwing the book at this repeat child molester, Worrell cut him a deal that makes a mockery of justice.
In June 2025, she handed Washington just 15 years of probation.
No prison time.
No bars.
No justice for the victims.
Attorney General James Uthmeier wasn’t about to let this slide, blasting Worrell’s decision on social media along with the actual court documents that prove just how badly she failed these children.
"In June 2025, Monique Worrell gave him just 15 years of probation," Uthmeier wrote, sharing Washington’s sentencing scoresheet and plea agreement.¹

The paperwork tells the whole sickening story – multiple felony convictions across second-, third-, and fourth-degree levels, topped off with a measly $30,000 fine.
That’s what Worrell thinks a serial child predator’s freedom is worth.
Part of a Disturbing Pattern
This isn’t an isolated incident – it’s part of Worrell’s systematic war on public safety that’s putting Florida’s most vulnerable residents at risk.
Just days earlier, Uthmeier had called out Worrell for another outrageous plea deal involving a man who shot his ex-girlfriend 12 times while she sat in a drive-thru.
The charge got downgraded from first-degree attempted murder with a firearm to second-degree attempted murder without the firearm enhancement.
The shooter will serve just 10 years instead of the mandatory 20.
And last month, Uthmeier slammed Worrell for refusing to prosecute two other child predator cases that should have been slam dunks.

One involved a man who was caught masturbating in front of children at a public splash pad.
The other case featured a suspect allegedly possessing videos of toddlers getting raped and abused.
Worrell’s office declined to prosecute both cases, claiming they weren’t "suitable for prosecution."
The Democrat Who Voters Couldn’t Get Rid Of
Worrell’s soft-on-crime approach isn’t new – it’s exactly why Governor Ron DeSantis suspended her back in 2023 for "refusing to faithfully enforce the laws of Florida."
But Florida’s broken election system allowed this radical prosecutor to worm her way back into office in 2024 with nearly 66 percent of the vote.
Now she’s back to her old tricks, treating hardened criminals like misunderstood victims while real victims get left behind.
Worrell defended her office’s decisions in typical leftist fashion, accusing Uthmeier of "baseless political attacks" and claiming she’s following proper legal procedures.
"If the Attorney General does not like the law as written, he should take those concerns to the legislature," Worrell said in a statement to Florida’s Voice.²

That’s rich coming from someone who routinely ignores what the legislature actually wrote into law.
Here’s What This Really Means
Look, this isn’t about legal technicalities or prosecutorial discretion.
This is about a radical leftist prosecutor who fundamentally doesn’t believe in protecting children from predators.
When faced with a serial child molester who had nearly 30 years to think about his first conviction, Worrell chose to give him another chance to hurt kids.
The Florida Legislature wrote tough sentencing guidelines for a reason – they understood that repeat offenders need to be locked up permanently.
Worrell’s decision to override those guidelines with a probation-only deal sends a clear message to every predator in Central Florida: this prosecutor has your back.
For parents trying to keep their children safe, Worrell’s track record should terrify them.
Her office has now declined to prosecute multiple child predator cases, reduced charges against violent criminals, and handed out sweetheart deals to repeat offenders.
Citizens of Central Florida deserve prosecutors who will fight for victims, not coddle criminals.
Instead, they’re stuck with a woke ideologue who treats the courthouse like her personal social justice experiment.
Until Florida finds a way to hold radical prosecutors accountable, children will continue paying the price for Worrell’s dangerous agenda.
