President Donald Trump has kept his word to the American people on border security.
That promise just got tested during the holiday season.
And Florida bishops made one Christmas request that Trump instantly rejected.
Church Leaders Demand Trump Stop Enforcing The Law
Eight Florida Catholic bishops sent Trump and Governor Ron DeSantis a letter asking them to pause all immigration enforcement during Christmas.
Miami Archbishop Thomas Wenski led the charge with a plea that would make any American roll their eyes.
"Don't be the Grinch that stole Christmas," Wenski told reporters at a news conference.¹
"Give people these two weeks to be with their families without fear of being arrested or taken into custody and ending up at Alligator Alcatraz or at Krome or other places to await deportation," he said.
The bishops signed a statement claiming the Christmas season demanded a timeout from enforcing America's immigration laws.
"We request that the government pause apprehension and roundup activities during the Christmas season," the bishops wrote.² "Such a pause would show a decent regard for the humanity of these families."

But here's where things get interesting.
Buried in their statement, these same bishops admitted something that destroys their entire argument.
"The border has been secured," they acknowledged.³ "The initial work of identifying and removing dangerous criminals has been accomplished to a great degree."
They just proved Trump was right all along about securing the border and removing criminal illegal aliens.
Over half a million people have been deported this year, and nearly two million more have voluntarily self-deported, according to Department of Homeland Security records.⁴
So the bishops admit Trump succeeded in making America safer, then ask him to stop doing it?
That's not how law enforcement works.
Trump Keeps His Promise To Voters
The White House didn't waste any time shutting down this ridiculous request.
"President Trump was elected based on his promise to the American people to deport criminal illegal aliens," White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson said.⁵ "And he's keeping that promise."
Business as usual, in other words.
Trump won a landslide victory in November because voters trusted him to secure the border and remove dangerous criminals.

He's not about to pause that mission because some bishops want to play politics during Christmas.
Archbishop Wenski has been attacking Trump's immigration policies all year, speaking at Georgetown University in September where he accused the administration of "tearing apart families" and "inciting fear."⁶
The bishops' letter revealed their real concern – they're worried that enforcement operations now "inevitably sweep up numbers of people who are not criminals but just here to work."⁷
Translation: they want Trump to stop enforcing immigration law against all illegal aliens, not just the violent criminals.
Some of these operations even catch people with "legal authorization to be here," the bishops complained, as if that's Trump's fault when people get swept up in raids targeting criminal aliens.
The bishops pointed to recent polling showing 53% of Americans now say Trump is doing "too much" on deportations.⁸

But those same polls show large majorities still support deporting at least some illegal aliens from the country.
Pope Leo XIV has endorsed criticism of Trump's immigration policies, suggesting people who support "inhuman treatment of immigrants" might not be pro-life.⁹
That's rich coming from a Church that spent decades protecting predators in its own ranks while lecturing Americans about compassion.
Trump Was Elected To Enforce The Law
The bishops accidentally made Trump's case for him.
They admitted the border is now secured and dangerous criminals are being removed – exactly what Trump promised voters he would do.
Then they asked him to stop doing it during Christmas, as if criminal illegal aliens take a holiday from committing crimes.
Trump campaigned on ending the chaos at the southern border that Biden created for four years.
Voters gave him a mandate to restore law and order to America's immigration system.

The Department of Homeland Security reports more than 605,000 deportations since Trump took office in January, with an additional 1.9 million illegal aliens choosing to self-deport rather than face removal.¹⁰
That's the largest removal effort in modern American history.
Immigration enforcement doesn't pause for Christmas any more than other law enforcement pauses during the holidays.
Criminal illegal aliens don't get a timeout just because bishops want to score political points.
Trump ran on a promise to make America safe again by removing dangerous criminals and securing the border.
The bishops just admitted he's kept that promise – and he's not stopping now.
