Florida Democrats Put a Man on Their Governor Ballot and His Past Just Caught Up With Him

Apr 16, 2026

Democrats spent years telling you Republicans were the threat to democracy.

Florida's Democrat gubernatorial candidate just threatened to kill police officers.

And that's not even the most damning thing the cops found when they dug into his record.

Armed, Dangerous, and Already on the Books

Flagler County deputies responded to a home on Cleveland Court in Palm Coast last Friday morning.

Kevin Cichowski, 46, had already beaten two elderly victims – striking one with a cane, hurling a phone at the other.

One of those victims told dispatchers Cichowski had a gun.

That same victim told dispatchers he had threatened to kill them both and any law enforcement officer who showed up to help.

One victim was bedridden.

They couldn't leave.

Deputies evacuated both victims through a rear lanai before confronting Cichowski, who surrendered.

Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly described the stakes plainly: "When responding to a situation where a suspect has a weapon and has threatened to kill the victims and law enforcement, it's critical that we do everything we can to safely de-escalate."

This Was Not His First Arrest

Here's what the press release buried: Cichowski had already been arrested in 2024 on charges of domestic battery by strangulation and false imprisonment.

He ran for Palm Coast mayor in 2021.

He never stopped running for office.

The booking sheet from last Friday alone reads like a crime spree: two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, two counts of battery on a person 65 or older, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, tampering with a witness, and two counts of robbery by sudden snatching.

Before he reached a jail cell, Cichowski was expressing suicidal statements to deputies – and ended up under the Baker Act, Florida's involuntary psychiatric hold law.

Body cam footage and 911 calls from the arrest have since been released publicly.

Every Florida voter should watch them.

Democrats Vetted This Man and Found Nothing Wrong

The party that lectures America about protecting democracy had a man on their governor's ballot who had already been charged with strangling someone – and nobody said a word.

That's not a vetting failure.

That's a values failure.

The same Democrats demanding you trust them to run Florida's $1.6 trillion economy, manage one of the country's most complex state governments, and protect 23 million residents couldn't be bothered to run a basic background check on their own candidate.

Former House Speaker Paul Renner is running his "Affordability Now" statewide tour this week while Cichowski was allegedly beating elderly victims in their home and threatening to kill cops.

That's the 2026 Florida governor's race.

One party is talking about lowering the cost of living.

The other one just had their candidate Baker Acted on the way to jail.
