Florida Just Named a 124-Mile Highway After Trump and the Airport Code Is DJT

Jun 22, 2026

Barack Obama got two Palm Beach County road names when he was president.

Now Donald Trump is getting a 124-mile coast-to-coast highway – and the airport code where Air Force One lands is becoming DJT.

Find out what Florida just did that no state has ever done for a sitting president.

The Road That Runs From Mar-a-Lago to the Gulf

Gov. Ron DeSantis signed Senate Bill 628 into law, officially designating the full length of State Road 80 as the "President Donald J. Trump Highway."

The route isn't some forgotten back road.

It stretches 124 miles from West Palm Beach on Florida's Atlantic Coast straight across to Fort Myers on the Gulf – cutting through the heart of South Florida, connecting urban neighborhoods, suburban communities, and rural towns Trump carried by double digits.

Thousands of drivers use it every single day.

Starting July 1, every one of them will do it on President Donald J. Trump Highway.

The bill passed the Florida House 81-22 and cleared the Senate 31-4.

Democrats couldn't stop it in Tallahassee and they can't stop the signs from going up.

July 1 Is Bigger Than You Think

The highway is only half the story.

On the exact same day – July 1 – Palm Beach International Airport officially becomes President Donald J. Trump International Airport.

The airport nearest Mar-a-Lago, the one Air Force One lands on every time Trump comes home to Florida.

And eight days later, on July 9, the FAA flips the airport code from PBI to DJT.

That code change is historic.

Every pilot, air traffic controller, and airline on earth will identify that airport by Trump's initials – locked into FAA navigation systems and aeronautical charts that govern aviation worldwide.

State Rep. Meg Weinberger, the Republican who led the airport renaming effort, put it simply: "I'm looking forward to the airport where greatness takes off."

Democrats howled. Representative Lois Frankel called it "misguided and unfair."

Nobody asked her.

This Is What Winning Looks Like

Eisenhower got his name on the entire interstate system in 1990 – more than 25 years after he left office.

Obama got a freeway stretch in Los Angeles named after him during his second term.

Trump is getting a coast-to-coast highway, a major international airport, and a three-letter aviation code bearing his initials – while he's still in the White House.

Florida Republicans aren't hedging.

They're cementing Trump's legacy into the infrastructure of the state he made his home – with supermajority votes Democrats can't override and a federal aviation code no future governor can strip with a pen stroke.

The left spent years telling America that Florida was a swing state.

Trump carried it by nearly 13 points in 2024 and Florida Republicans responded by putting his name on everything they could reach.

DJT isn't just a code.

It's a statement.
