Donald Trump is moving at breakneck speed to enact his agenda.
He is going to need an assist in one major fight.
And Florida law enforcement prepared for one mission that left Donald Trump jumping for joy.
Florida law enforcement prepares to help with the mass deportation of illegal aliens
President Donald Trump is looking to ramp up the mass deportation of illegal aliens in the coming months.
Much of his success will come down to how much cooperation he can get from state and local enforcement on this effort.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers cannot be everywhere so local law enforcement acts as the eyes and ears in their communities.
Florida law enforcement is ready to step up and help the Trump administration with mass deportations.
One of the logistical challenges for mass deportation is detaining the illegal aliens before they are shipped on a flight back home.
The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office is working with ICE to detain illegal aliens and other law enforcement agencies in Florida are offering their help.
Marion County Sheriff’s Office Lieutenant Paul Bloom told Fox 35 that his office is still trying to determine what their role will be.
“Could we potentially see an increase in the number of illegal immigrants in our jail? It’s very possible as this continues,” Bloom said. “But I think we’re still very in the very early stages of this adjustment.”
Indian River County Sheriff’s Office Captain Joe Abollo said that his office will reach out to ICE when they suspect they have arrested an illegal alien for a crime.
The sheriff’s office also assists ICE with operations in the county.
“When ICE has an operation in our county, we support them,” Abollo said. “We usually get a phone call, ‘Hey, can you send out anyone you can?’ And we respond.”
Pro-illegal immigration groups panic
ICE is conducting nationwide sweeps to arrest illegal aliens.
That has caused groups that support illegal aliens to be flooded with worried phone calls.
The Immigration Advocates official Estefania Laurida said her group has gotten 50 to 60 more phone calls every day from people and organizations concerned about the Trump crackdown.
“We’re getting calls from organizations on how to handle raids, families where not everyone has citizenship, and clients with pending cases,” Laurida stated.
She added that immigration attorneys will have their work cut out for them.
“At this point, for immigration firms that weren’t doing detainment work, they need to consider,” Laurida stated. “A lot more people are getting detained, and we need to get people out.”
Trump is moving at lightning speed and immigration attorneys are having a tough time keeping up with the pace of changes coming from the administration.
He rescinded the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) that former President Joe Biden gave to illegal aliens from Venezuela, Haiti, Somalia, and elsewhere.
“As the law evolves, things change,” Laurida explained. “You may have been eligible for something before, and you’re not now. We’re seeing that with Venezuelans — TPS rescinded.”
The Trump administration is just getting started with its efforts to crackdown on illegal immigration.
