Florida picked a legal fight with Joe Biden over this electric vehicle scheme

Jul 8, 2024

Joe Biden is moving ahead at breakneck speed trying to force drivers into electric vehicles.

Now he is running into a roadblock after he bit off more than he could chew.

And Florida picked a legal fight with Joe Biden over this electric vehicle scheme.

President Joe Biden is trying to engineer the mass adoption of electric vehicles with government regulations.

For political reasons, he will not issue an outright electric vehicle mandate.

That is why he has put gasoline-powered engines in his crosshairs with a one-two punch of regulations.

Biden’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued new tailpipe emission standards that would require nearly two-thirds of new vehicles sold to be electric by 2032.

And he followed that up by having the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) issue new Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards.

These new CAFE standards require that automakers have an average of 50.4 miles per gallon for their fleets of passenger cars and light trucks by 2031.

Automakers’ only chance of reaching that number is by dramatically increasing their electric vehicle offerings.

Biden is creating a de facto electric vehicle mandate where drivers will have no choice but to buy one of his Bidenmobiles.

To stop the NHTSA and the new CAFE standards, 26 Republican states are suing.

The lawsuit is led by West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey (R) and Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman.

Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Iowa, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and Wyoming are joining in them in the lawsuit.

Morrisey slammed NHTSA for an illegal power grab that was not authorized by Congress.

“Congress did not give the NHTSA such power to reshape an industry that would ultimately affect the pocketbooks of consumers— this rule is legally flawed and unrealistic,” Morrisey said. “This will undoubtedly cause the United States to be dependent on other nations like China for our energy needs and will undermine American energy security by increasing demand and straining power grids.”

Demand for electric vehicles has been collapsing as the Biden administration ramps up its push for them.

In a recent survey, McKinsey found that nearly half of electric vehicle buyers wanted to switch back to a gasoline model with their next purchase.

Coleman pointed out that no one wants to buy an electric vehicle.

“President Biden has spent billions and mobilized the entire federal government to push EVs, and Americans still aren’t buying it,” Coleman said. “Even if they wanted an EV, fewer and fewer families could afford one because of historic inflation…Kentuckians want the Biden Administration to focus on the crisis at the border, violent crime, and the surge of deadly drugs instead of picking its favorites in the auto industry.”

Joe Biden tried to lure buyers into electric vehicles with tax credits, but that scheme failed.

Now he is trying to rob Americans of the right to drive a vehicle of their choosing.
