But California Governor Gavin Newsom is too concerned with what Ron DeSantis is doing to focus on his own state’s problems.
And now Gavin Newsom is having a meltdown about Ron DeSantis breaking the woke Left’s control of education in Florida.
Democrats and their media allies are still in a frenzy over Ron DeSantis rejecting an AP black history course because it violated the state’s Stop WOKE Act he signed into law last April.
The Stop WOKE Act prohibits the teaching of Marxist-based Critical Race Theory or other woke garbage as part of the educational curriculum.
The AP black history course DeSantis rejected was anything but actual black history.
Instead, the course had lessons on “queer studies,” “black feminism,” and even required students to learn about the Black Lives Matter movement.
After the DeSantis administration rejected the curriculum, the College Board announced that it was merely a leaked draft and the final version would not have the woke courses included.
On Wednesday, the College Board submitted the final version of the curriculum for approval by the state of Florida.
The version submitted by the College Board removed the content that violated the Stop WOKE Act.
This infuriated the leftists at The New York Times.
In an article by reporters Anemona Hartocollis and Eliza Fawcett, The New York Times ranted that the new version “stripped of much of the subject matter that had angered the Governor and other conservatives.”
“The College Board purged the names of many Black writers and scholars associated with critical race theory, the queer experience and Black feminism,” The Times complained. “It ushered out some politically fraught topics, like Black Lives Matter, from the formal curriculum.”
According to the article, David Coleman, the head of the College Board, said he did not “bow to political pressure” in making the changes.
“At the College Board, we can’t look to statements of political leaders,” he said. “The changes, he said, came from ‘the input of professors’ and ‘long standing A.P. principles.’”
But California Governor Gavin Newsom never misses an opportunity to attack Ron DeSantis.
And in a post on Twitter, Newsom accused Coleman of lying and called him a “puppet of Ron DeSantis.”
“And yet David Coleman, the head of the @CollegeBoard, says ‘we can’t look to statements of political leaders,’” Newsom wrote.
“I call bulls**t — you are merely a puppet of Ron DeSantis.”
