California Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom is considered a top contender for the Party’s nomination if Joe Biden steps aside in 2024.
That’s why Newsom recently went after Ron DeSantis in an effort to bolster his credentials with national Democrats.
But Gavin Newsom never expected to be in a family feud because of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
Outside of Donald Trump, there is no Republican who Democrats hate more than Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
As the most popular Republican elected official in the country, DeSantis is considered a top contender for the GOP nomination in 2024 even if Donald Trump decides to run.
Republican voters appreciate Ron DeSantis’ willingness to actually fight back and win against the Left.
DeSantis’ rock star status has also made him a top target of attack from the Democrats and corporate-controlled media.
When Ron DeSantis signed a bill into law prohibiting teaching the Left’s woke homosexual and transgender ideology to children in kindergarten through third grade, Disney tried to strong arm him into dropping his support.
Not only did DeSantis refuse to back down from the threats, but he also revoked Disney’s special privileges and self-governing tax status.
California Governor Gavin Newsom attacked DeSantis for revoking Disney’s special privileges, tweeting out that “Disney, the door is open to bring those jobs back to California – the state that actually represents the values of your workers.”
On Independence Day, Newsom also spent $105,000 to run a TV ad on Fox News in Florida attacking Ron DeSantis.
And just recently, Newsom pledged to donate $100,000 to Democrat Charlie Crist to help him defeat Ron DeSantis in November.
“Time to make Ron DeSantis a one-term governor,” Newsom tweeted. “I’m pledging $100k right now to @CharlieCrist.”
But while Gavin Newsom is dropping hundreds of thousands of dollars to try to defeat Ron DeSantis, his own family members are cutting checks to the Florida Governor’s re-election effort.
“According to contribution records on the Friends of Ron DeSantis PAC website, the Siebel Family Revocable Trust made a $5,000 contribution on April 6, 2022,” Fox News reported.
“That trust is run by Kenneth F. Siebel Jr. and Judith A. Siebel, the parents of Newsom’s wife, Jennifer Siebel, records obtained by Fox News Digital show.”
According to Federal Election Commission reports, Newsom’s father-in-law has a history of supporting GOP candidates with financial contributions.
Siebel also donated money to the campaigns of Senators Ron Johnson, Tom Cotton, and Josh Hawley.
DeSantis has fired back at Newsom several times, slamming his “terrible governance” and pointing out how he sees “a lot” of California license plates in Florida, but “if you go to California, you ain’t seeing very many Florida license plates.”
Gavin Newsom is hoping to boost his credentials in the Democrat Party by going all-in on attacking Ron DeSantis.
But Newsom’s war on DeSantis may have also landed him in a feud with his family members who support the Florida Governor.
