Donald Trump foolishly picked a fight with Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds.
But Ron DeSantis chose a different path and has continued to praise Iowa’s conservative Governor.
And while every candidate hopes to win the coveted support from Iowa voters – Governor Reynolds’ latest comments on Ron DeSantis spell big trouble for Donald Trump.
DeSantis shows up in Iowa
Ron DeSantis plans to solidify his bonafide grassroots credentials in the eyes of Governor Kim Reynolds by visiting all 99 counties in Iowa by the end of September.
“I know he is doing the 99-county tour,” Governor Kim Reynolds said about DeSantis on Fox News.
“He’s showing up in rural Iowa. He’s talking to voters. He’s listening to voters. He’s talking about his vision and that’s a really good thing to do. It matters,” Reynolds continued.
“IT MATTERS!”: Gov. @KimReynoldsIA praises @RonDeSantis for visiting all 99 counties in Iowa — a ‘Full Grassley.’

Unlike Trump, who thinks he has Iowa in the bag, DeSantis continues to take the approach that every candidate must earn the respect and support from voters – not just assume it’s a guaranteed thing.
Donald Trump is on thin ice
Presidential hopefuls took the stage at the Iowa State Fair this weekend to showcase why they think Iowans should support them.
Iowa takes their first-in-the-nation caucuses seriously, and they want to hear from any candidate who hopes to earn their support.
But while presidential candidates like Mike Pence, Nikki Haley, Tim Scott, and Ron DeSantis took the stage . . .
. . . Donald Trump refused to participate with Governor Reynolds’ “Fair-Side Chats.”
Expressing anger that Governor Reynolds was remaining neutral in the race – Trump wrote on Truth Social “I opened up the Governor position for Kim Reynolds, & when she fell behind, I ENDORSED her, did big Rallies, & she won. Now, she wants to remain ‘NEUTRAL.’ I don’t invite her to events!”
Of course, alienating the Governor of a conservative state Trump hopes to win is not a smart move.
The coveted Evangelical Christian vote
As DeSantis Daily previously reported, securing the Christian vote is a must for any Presidential candidate to win the nomination.
Donald Trump might take the Christian vote for granted – but he shouldn’t.
In contrast, Ron DeSantis knows he must appeal to the Christian voting bloc – so he attended church with Iowa evangelical leader Bob Vander Plaats and spoke with Christians after a church service.
The response was overwhelming, even surprising Vander Plaats who said “If this church service is an indicator to the Iowa caucuses, he’s doing way better than the polls are indicating.”
“It is what it is”
Governor Kim Reynolds was asked her thoughts on Trump snubbing her “Fair-Side Chats.”
While she wasn’t willing to publicly criticize Donald Trump in an outright manner – she did express her disappointment.
“I mean that’s his decision, I invited him, we would love to do it, so the candidates are going to make their own decisions and it is what it is,” Reynolds told DailyMail.com.
Only time will tell the ramifications of the major mistakes Trump continues to make by alienating Iowa voters.
And as for DeSantis, things in Iowa will only continue to look up.
