Kevin O’Leary has a keen eye for spotting a good deal.
He revealed the secret behind a big move.
And Kevin O’Leary had one message about Florida that left Democrats’ heads spinning.
Kevin O’Leary calls Florida a winner because of its business environment
Florida has become one of the top destinations in the country for businesses looking to expand or relocate.
The Sunshine State has low taxes and a light regulatory touch.
O’Leary Venture chairman Kevin O’Leary, one of the stars of ABC’s Shark Tank, told a panel at the Rescuing the American Dream summit that Florida was one of the states that is winning.
He noted that states are in competition for residents and businesses.
And Florida is one of the big winners.
“There’s a reason that everybody moves from Massachusetts to Florida,” O’Leary stated. “There’s a reason that happens. It’s the competition of states, which is a very healthy dynamic. You’re pro-business, that’s very important.”
The famed investor left Boston in 2024 to relocate to South Florida.
U.S. Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) said that Florida’s business environment has wide-ranging benefits for the state.
“We get a lot of retirees in Florida,” Scott explained. “They go make their money in some other state, and they come down to Florida and invest all their money afterward. They give it to our charities.”
The Rescuing the American Dream summit discussed how conservatives could help enact President Donald Trump’s agenda.
O’Leary stressed that Trump’s agenda needed to keep that dream alive for Americans.
“What is America’s No. 1 export? Is it energy? Is it technology? Is it grain?” O’Leary explained. “No, it’s that.”
He pointed at the sign that featured American Dream on it.
“There’s a reason everybody kills themselves to get here or goes over the river or barbed wire or breaks in illegally,” O’Leary stated. “They want to be part of the American Dream.”
Blue states are driving residents out
O’Leary has warned that poorly managed blue states like California are causing residents and businesses to flee for better opportunities elsewhere.
The Shark Tank star previously told Fox Business that he could not afford to live in Massachusetts anymore and moved to Florida.
“I left ‘Taxachusetts,'” O’Leary told Fox Business in 2024. “I moved to Florida. Most of my neighbors where I live are all from their hometown Boston and we can’t afford to live there anymore.”
Massachusetts passed a millionaires tax in 2022 that caused an exodus of residents to states like Florida that have no income tax.
“These ideas don’t work, they just don’t work,” O’Leary said about soaking the rich in high taxes.
U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) have supported legislation putting a surtax on high-net-worth individuals.
O’Leary scoffed at the idea and noted that France proposed something similar.
“The French have tried this before,” O’Leary said.
He noted that wealthy French citizens “all moved to Monaco or to Switzerland and they just made sure their domicile was not France.”
The Left refuses to learn the lesson that states cannot tax and spend themselves into prosperity.
