Ron DeSantis suspended Florida’s woke state prosecutor for “neglect of duty” and leftists are going wild.
But despite left-wing activists who claim DeSantis is a “racist” – one group is thankful for DeSantis’ swift action.
And now, law enforcement officers are speaking out in droves backing DeSantis’ decision, and here’s what they had to say.
The “Worrell Effect”
Florida’s failed state prosecutor Monique Worrell may have a soft spot for violent criminals – but her actions have endangered Floridians – and law enforcement officers are fed up.
After DeSantis suspended Worrell for putting her woke ideology above the law by allowing murders and dangerous drug traffickers to receive a slap on the wrist, Worrell immediately insisted DeSantis was playing politics.
But law enforcement officers see things differently, and during a press conference one officer held up a sign called “The Worrell Effect,” highlighting how Worell’s refusal to prosecute criminals has harmed Floridians.
“Lax prosecution + don’t support law enforcement = people are not safe,” read the sign held up by the officer.
Local law enforcement officers have had enough
Every day, law enforcement officers put their lives on the line to keep people safe.
And even if they are good at their job and arrest the bad guys who want to harm people . . .
. . . if State Attorney’s don’t prosecute and get violent criminals off the streets – all the hard work officers do each day is meaningless.
And even worse – when State Attorney’s like Monique Worrell fail to follow procedure – people can get seriously hurt or even die.
In Florida, two police officers were shot by a violent criminal who Worrell let roam free.
That was the last straw for DeSantis.
“It is my duty as Governor to ensure that the laws enacted by our duly elected Legislature are followed,” said Governor Ron DeSantis in a press release.
“The people of Central Florida deserve to have a State Attorney who will seek justice in accordance with the law instead of allowing violent criminals to roam the streets and find new victims,” DeSantis continued.
The Left calls DeSantis “racist”
Monique Worrell is black – but of course – that’s not why DeSantis suspended her.
He suspended her because she’s weak on crime, and her lack of diligence in getting criminals off the streets has endangered Floridians.
Former woke Orange-Osceloa State Attorney Aramis Ayala was also weak on crime and faced a feud with DeSantis when he yanked her from a high-profile murder case because she doesn’t believe in the death penalty.
Worrell claimed “similarities” with the “problems” Ayala faced with DeSantis – and thinks DeSantis discriminated against them because they are black.
“The first one who held [this position] had some Governor problems as well,” Worrell said.
She continued “It seems like every time a black woman is elected, the governor needs to tell her how to do her job and that is a problem,” The Orlando Sentinel reported.
In reality, DeSantis has pledged Florida is a place where woke goes to die – and he’s followed through with his promise.
Florida cannot have pro-crime prosecutors who put their woke ideology over the safety of the people of Florida.
Law enforcement officers are grateful for the leadership of Ron DeSantis, and Floridians are thankful they have a Governor who will act quickly to keep them safe.
