Left-Wing Activists Spent Real Money to Build a Ron DeSantis Statue That Immediately Melted

Oct 22, 2026

The Left recently made a life-size statue of Ron DeSantis.

That happened last week in Tallahassee, and the Left called it a brilliant political statement.

And left-wing activists spent real money to build a Ron DeSantis statue that immediately melted.

The Stunt That Backfired Before It Started

The group behind it was 350 Action – a left-wing political machine that almost exclusively endorses Democrats and has received funding from George Soros-linked networks.

They partnered with an advertising agency called Uncommon Creative Studio and a production company to construct a DeSantis statue from gallium, a silvery metal with a melting point of 85.6 degrees Fahrenheit.

They unveiled it in Tallahassee on October 13.

It began melting immediately.

They filmed it melting.

They posted it to Instagram and called it a monument to "climate change deniers."

The skull revealed underneath was meant to be haunting and symbolic.

What it actually was: professional activists who hired an ad agency and a production company to build a prop they knew would dissolve – in a state they've been losing for years – to lecture a governor who is constitutionally term-limited and leaving office in January anyway.

"The climate crisis is one of the most important problems our planet faces today. And yet, some candidates running for office still deny that it is happening and deny the bold climate action people want," said Candice Fortin, campaign director at 350Action.

What DeSantis Actually Did on Energy

The plaque on the statue referenced HB 1645, which DeSantis signed in May 2024.

That law removed "climate change" language from Florida statutes, banned offshore wind turbines along the state's coastline, and refocused state energy policy on reliable, affordable power.

DeSantis framed it plainly: "We're restoring sanity in our approach to energy and rejecting the agenda of the radical green zealots."

The Institute for Energy Research published it as a model other states should follow.

The law also protected gas appliances from local bans and stripped the mandate requiring state agencies to buy from a "climate-friendly preferred products list" – meaning Florida stopped forcing taxpayers to subsidize overpriced green products.

That is the policy 350 Action spent money attacking.

Not a rounding error in the federal budget.

Not a Pentagon program.

A state law that said Florida's energy goal is affordable power – not carbon virtue signaling.

Your electricity bill already knows what happens when politicians chase green mandates instead of reliability.

The Byron Donalds Factor

350 Action wasn't just trolling a lame-duck governor.

The timing is the tell.

Florida holds its gubernatorial election on November 3 – less than two weeks away.

Republican Byron Donalds is heavily favored to replace DeSantis, and he's made clear he intends to continue the same energy priorities.

The statue was an electoral agitprop dressed up as art.

"Deny the deniers at the ballot box," 350 Action campaign manager Candice Fortin said.

The Left is worried about Donalds.

They built a melting metal statue to say so.

Why This Tells You Everything

This is what the climate Left does when they've lost the argument with voters: they hire advertising agencies, commission production companies, and post the results to Instagram.

They've been rejecting DeSantis’ energy policies for years at the ballot box and losing every time.

This is what happens when a political movement has run out of arguments and replaced them with aesthetics.

DeSantis governed eight years in the most hurricane-exposed major state in America, kept the lights on, and left with Florida's energy policy pointed toward reliability instead of Net Zero performance art.

The Left built a metal effigy to mock him for it.

The metal melted while DeSantis' laws stay on the books.
