Megyn Kelly heard five words about Greenland that changed everything for her

Feb 5, 2025

Megyn Kelly has covered a lot of major stories in her career.

She got the inside scoop on one of the biggest of the year.

And Megyn Kelly heard five words about Greenland that changed everything for her.

Marco Rubio reveals that Trump is dead set on acquiring Greenland

One of the most surprising storylines of President Donald Trump’s second term has been his pursuit of Greenland.

He announced that it was in the national security interest of the country to acquire the island.

Trump floated the idea of buying Greenland in his first term but Denmark who owns the island ruled it out.

Former Fox News host Megyn Kelly asked Secretary of State Marco Rubio about Trump’s interest in Greenland during an interview.

She noted that Denmark and Greenland refused to budge about selling the island to the United States.

“This is not a joke,” Rubio said. “This is not about acquiring land for the purpose of acquiring land. This is in our national interest, and it needs to be solved.”

Kelly brought up a phone call between Trump and the Danish Prime Minister that a European media outlet claimed left the Danes panicking.

“I wasn’t privy to that phone call, but I imagine the phone call went the way a lot of these phone calls go,” Rubio stated. “And that is, he just speaks bluntly and frankly with people. And ultimately, I think diplomacy in many cases works better when you’re straightforward as opposed to using platitudes and language that translates to nothing.”

Greenland’s long term importance to the United States

Kelly asked Rubio how Greenland fit into the national security picture.

“Well, the Arctic, which has gotten very little attention, but the Arctic Circle and the Arctic region is going to become critical for shipping lanes. How do you get some of this energy that’s going to be produced under President Trump?” Rubio explained. “These energies rely on shipping lanes.”

Rubio warned that the Chinese would look to establish a foothold in the Arctic and Greenland could be on the table.

He noted that the communist nation does not have a presence in the region right now.

“It is completely realistic to believe that the Chinese will eventually, maybe even in the short term, try to do in Greenland what they have done at the Panama Canal and in other places,” Rubio said. “And that is install facilities that give them access to the Arctic with the cover of a Chinese company.”

Rubio argued that any Chinese presence in the Arctic would also be able to be used by their military in a conflict.

The Secretary of State pointed out that the United States is on the hook for defending Greenland anyway so they might as well take control of the island.

Kelly asked him if America would own Greenland in four years.

Rubio said that it was up in the air because he could not get into specifics but vowed that the Arctic would be more secure.

Donald Trump is not going to let up in his pursuit of Greenland despite running into some resistance.

DeSantis Daily will keep you up-to-date on any developments to this ongoing story.
