Former Vice President Mike Pence and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis are expected to enter the 2024 Presidential race.
Polls show DeSantis and Donald Trump far ahead of Pence.
And Mike Pence just picked this strange fight with Ron DeSantis.
Polls show that Mike Pence is facing an uphill fight in the 2024 Presidential campaign.
Trump’s base won’t even consider Pence because of what happened on January 6 when Pence did not reject certified Electoral College results.
Establishment Republicans think Pence is too close to Trump and can’t win.
Any Mike Pence Presidential campaign rests on winning the support of Evangelical Christians in the Iowa Caucus.
Mike Huckabee, Rick Santorum, and Ted Cruz catapulted themselves from longshots to serious contenders by dominating the Evangelical vote and winning the Iowa Caucus.
Pence is trying to run that playbook, but this time he is trying to take on DeSantis in an area of strength for the Florida Governor.
One of Ron DeSantis’ biggest strengths is his fight to expel wokeness from Florida schools and businesses.
DeSantis became a conservative hero by sticking by the Parental Rights in Education Bill – which prevents teachers from indoctrinating children into transgender lifestyles with sexually inappropriate lesson plans – in the face of opposition from Democrats, the media, and woke corporations.
Now Pence is trying to get into the act and futilely claim that no one can get to his right on the issue of pronouns and transgenderism in schools.
Pence traveled to Iowa to campaign against the Linn-Mar Community School District’s absurd plan to have teachers hide what pronouns students want to be called from their parents.
Conservatives sued over this policy as it is another attempt by the Left to undermine parent’s rights by having activist teachers push children into transgenderism without the knowledge of their moms and dads.
“The truth is, it wasn’t our choice to start the left’s culture war. But now we have no choice but to win it for the sake of our children and grandchildren,” Pence declared during a campaign stop. “We will win this fight.”
“We’re told that we must not only tolerate the left’s obsessions with race and sex and gender but we must earnestly and enthusiastically participate or face severe consequences,” Pence added. “Nowhere is the problem more severe, or the need for leadership more urgent, than in our public school classrooms.”
Pence cast the issue under the familiar terms of parents’ rights.
“I believe it’s an issue, not that the majority of the American people stand with us on, but I think it’s got to be almost every parent in America,” Pence continued. “You do not craft a gender transition plan for my child without my knowledge or consent. I believe the American people believe that.”
While Mike Pence made his name in Congress as a social conservative, Pence is playing catch up to DeSantis.
DeSantis actually fought the woke agenda and won whereas establishment Republicans like Mike Pence just talk about it.
