A Florida judge thought she could block President Trump’s legacy project with one ruling.
Florida’s top legal officer had other plans.
And one activist judge just got humiliated after Florida’s AG exposed what they tried to do to Trump’s library.
Florida AG Uthmeier Crushes Leftist Lawsuit Against Trump Library
Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier announced Wednesday his office stepped into a lawsuit targeting the transfer of Miami land for President Donald Trump’s future presidential library, calling the legal challenge "bogus."¹
"Under my authority as Florida’s Chief Legal Officer, our office stepped in yesterday to represent Miami Dade College in this bogus lawsuit," Uthmeier declared on X.²

The move comes one day after Circuit Judge Mavel Ruiz issued a temporary injunction blocking the downtown Miami site transfer from Miami Dade College to the Trump Presidential Library Foundation.
Ruiz claimed the college’s board of trustees failed to provide reasonable public notice before voting last month to approve the property transfer.³
But Uthmeier wasn’t about to let a leftist judge and radical activist derail Trump’s plans.
The lawsuit was filed by Marvin Dunn, a retired Florida International University professor with a clear political agenda.⁴
Dunn argued that Miami Dade College was violating Florida law by transferring property for what he called a "private, political purpose."⁵
Notice how the Left always wraps their partisan attacks in high-minded legal arguments?
They can’t stand seeing Trump honored in his home state, so they dress up their opposition as concern for "the public trust."
Democrats Use Procedural Games to Target Trump
Judge Ruiz claimed her ruling was about procedure, not politics — the classic excuse judges use when they want to block conservative victories.⁶
She said the college didn’t give adequate public notice before the September 23 vote.⁷
The college’s agenda for that board meeting included only a brief note about discussing a property transfer to a state trust fund — no explanation of which parcel or why.⁸

Unlike every other meeting the board held this year, this 8 a.m. session wasn’t livestreamed.⁹
Dunn’s lawyers argued that "no one who wasn’t already in on the deal could have known what the board would do."¹⁰
They claimed "the people have a right to know" when transactions are this significant.¹¹
But here’s what they’re not telling you — Florida’s Sunshine Law doesn’t require governmental bodies to broadcast every detail on an agenda ahead of time.
Jesus Suarez, an attorney for Miami Dade College, explained there’s "no requirement under Florida law that there be specificity on notice."¹²
The college met all legal requirements. Suarez even questioned Dunn’s political motivations for filing the case in the first place.¹³
Leftist activists have been trying to stop this library since the day it was announced.
They can’t stand that Trump’s legacy will be preserved right next to Miami’s historic Freedom Tower — the same symbol of freedom that welcomed Cuban refugees fleeing Communist tyranny.
The irony is rich.
Liberals claim Trump represents authoritarianism, yet they’re the ones using courts to block a democratically elected governor from honoring a twice-elected president.
What This Land Transfer Really Means
The 2.63-acre site adjacent to the Freedom Tower is currently used as an employee parking lot for Miami Dade College’s Wolfson Campus.¹⁴
The Republican-led Florida Cabinet, including Governor Ron DeSantis, voted last month to formally gift the parcel on Biscayne Boulevard to the Trump foundation.¹⁵
Eric Trump, one of three trustees at the foundation, said the library will be "one of the most beautiful buildings ever built."¹⁶
He’s not exaggerating — the prime waterfront location was appraised at more than $66 million, though real estate consultants suggest it could sell for at least $360 million.¹⁷
Think about that for a minute.
Florida is giving President Trump’s foundation access to a property worth potentially $360 million to preserve his presidential legacy.
That’s exactly the kind of gesture Trump deserves after everything he’s done for Florida and the country.
And it’s driving Democrats absolutely insane.
The lawsuit claims delays from the injunction could cost the college up to $300,000.¹⁸ Miami Dade College general counsel Javier Ley-Soto testified they’re still finalizing the land transfer process.¹⁹
Other Florida locations had been considered earlier, including sites at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton and Florida International University in suburban Miami.²⁰
But DeSantis and the Cabinet chose the downtown Miami location for maximum visibility and historical significance.
DeSantis even signed legislation this year preempting local governments from blocking development of presidential libraries — a move designed to prevent liberal-leaning counties or municipalities from sabotaging the project.²¹
The governor saw this coming.
He knew leftist activists would try every trick in the book to stop Trump’s library, so he built legal protections into state law ahead of time.
That’s the kind of strategic thinking that makes DeSantis one of Trump’s most effective allies.
Uthmeier’s Intervention Shows AG Office Back on Offense
James Uthmeier becoming Florida’s Attorney General in February marked a major shift in how the state fights back against radical leftism.²²
The 37-year-old served as DeSantis’s chief of staff before his appointment and managed the governor’s 2024 presidential campaign.²³
Uthmeier graduated from the University of Florida and Georgetown Law, then worked in President Trump’s first administration as senior counsel and senior advisor at the Commerce Department from 2017 to 2019.²⁴
He joined DeSantis’s office as deputy general counsel in 2019 and climbed the ranks to chief of staff.²⁵
When DeSantis appointed him Attorney General, Uthmeier promised to "champion an America-first agenda" and fight back against cartels, gangs, and the radical Left.²⁶
He’s already delivered on that promise — the state opened Alligator Alcatraz, an immigration detention facility in the Everglades, and Uthmeier has taken aggressive stances on immigration enforcement even when federal judges tried to block him.²⁷
In June, a federal judge held Uthmeier in contempt for continuing to enforce Florida’s immigration law that the judge had blocked.²⁸
Uthmeier’s response? "If being held in contempt is what it costs to stand firmly behind President Trump’s agenda on illegal immigration, so be it."²⁹
That’s exactly the kind of fighter Florida needs as Attorney General.
Now Uthmeier is bringing that same aggressive approach to defending Trump’s presidential library.

He’s not going to let some retired professor and a sympathetic judge derail this project with procedural games and manufactured outrage about public notice requirements.
The Left tried this same playbook with Trump’s policies throughout both his presidencies — finding friendly judges to issue injunctions based on technicalities while ignoring the substance of what voters actually want. Uthmeier knows their game and he’s not playing along.
Attorney General Uthmeier stepping into this lawsuit sends a clear message: Florida’s government isn’t going to sit back and let activist judges rewrite the rules to target President Trump’s legacy.
The Trump Presidential Library will be built in downtown Miami right next to the Freedom Tower. And there’s nothing Marvin Dunn or Judge Mavel Ruiz can do to stop it.
