The media is trying to destroy Florida Governor Ron DeSantis as he prepares to announce his Presidential campaign.
But the Left crossed a line in targeting DeSantis’ wife.
And one comparison about Casey DeSantis to John Fetterman will make your blood boil.
POLITICO published a hit piece attacking Casey DeSantis – a 42-year-old mother and breast cancer survivor – as a conniving shrew who will stab anyone in the back to advance her husband’s career.
“For nearly as long, too, though, others who have worked with her or around her have nodded more quietly to the downsides of the starring part that she plays. She is and always has been by far his most important adviser, they say, because she is hesitant to cede that space to nearly anybody else. The DeSantis inner circle is too small and remains so, they say, not only because he constitutionally doesn’t trust people but because she doesn’t either. Especially forthright are the people who are granted anonymity on account of their fear of retribution given their power — not just his but hers. ‘She’s the power behind the throne,’ a Republican lobbyist told me. ‘The tip of the spear,’ said a Republican consultant. She is, they say, in the middle of good decisions of his, but bad ones, too,” liberal activist Michael Kruse wrote.
But the rich irony of the piece came when POLITICO approvingly quoted long-time Trump advisor Roger Stone calling Casey DeSantis “Lady MacBeth.”
“Have you ever noticed,” Stone wrote on his Telegram channel, “how much Ron DeSantis’ wife Casey is like Lady Macbeth?”
In Shakespeare’s MacBeth, Lady MacBeth eggs on her husband to kill the King of Scotland and engage in a murderous rampage that ultimately leads to the couple’s demise.
But just seven months ago POLITICO declared all comparisons to Lady MacBeth sexist and off-limits.
Politico, November 2022: Comparing women in politics to Lady Macbeth is a sexist trope.
Politico, May 2023: You know, come to think of it, there's this one Shakespeare character that Casey DeSantis really reminds me of… pic.twitter.com/cZEVQHjbsr

Of course, POLITICO only meant that in the context of liberal women, specifically all the heat surrounding Giselle Fetterman.
Social media posts following John Fetterman’s stroke showed his wife Giselle acting like the candidate and trying to take John’s place.
Critics contend Giselle Fetterman pushed her husband to stay in the race so that if he won he could later step down and the Governor could appoint Giselle Fetterman – a former illegal alien – the replacement Senator from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
But POLITICO shields leftists from criticism yet has no problem going after Casey DeSantis using the same line of attack the outlet once decried as sexist.
