Brandon and Dama Klosterman survived Hurricane Ian after losing everything.
They rebuilt their lives and finally found happiness in their new Bonita Springs home.
But one Florida couple took their dog for a walk and an illegal alien just destroyed their lives.
Blood Alcohol Three Times Legal Limit When Illegal Alien Jumped Sidewalk
Brandon Klosterman, 39, visited his mother at her nursing home every single day, taking her for walks in her wheelchair.
The ladies at the facility all knew him by name.
He ran his own painting and contracting business and started each morning chopping fresh fruit and vegetables for his pet bird Teddy.
On December 20, Brandon and his wife Dama decided to take their dog Kona for an evening walk near their Pennsylvania Avenue home in Bonita Springs.
It was supposed to be a quiet end to date night.
Ever Alfredo Matias Burgos, a 25-year-old illegal alien, was behind the wheel of an SUV approaching a curve on that same street.
Florida Highway Patrol troopers say Burgos lost control, jumped the curb, and slammed into the couple and their dog on the sidewalk.¹
Brandon Klosterman and Kona died at the scene.
Dama suffered a shattered pelvis and broken bones.
She underwent major surgery while still processing the reality that her husband and their dog were gone.²

Florida Republican Senator Jonathan Martin revealed Burgos's blood alcohol level was over three times the legal limit of 0.08%.³
ICE placed an immigration detainer hold on Burgos, confirming he's in the country illegally.⁴
"Another non-citizen taking the life of an innocent constituent of the Senate District I was elected to serve," Martin wrote.⁵
"He was beyond drunk OVER THREE TIMES the legal limit and now a law abiding human being is dead and another almost died."⁶

Family Learned About Murder From Neighbor, Not Police
The Klostermans had just rebuilt their lives after Hurricane Ian destroyed everything they owned.
They'd moved 23 times before finally settling into their new home.
Brandon's stepmother Mary said they were so happy and planning to start trying for children.⁷
The family didn't learn about Brandon's death from the police.
A neighbor called them the next day.⁸
Dama now faces catastrophic medical bills, no income, a mortgage on a home with elevated steps she can't climb, and zero hospital insurance.⁹
Senator Martin noted Florida doesn't require Bodily Injury Insurance for drivers, and Burgos likely carried none, leaving Dama with massive uncompensated expenses.¹⁰
Burgos and his passenger also sustained serious injuries and were hospitalized before Burgos was transferred to Lee County Jail.¹¹
He's charged with DUI manslaughter and multiple DUI counts, held on $100,000 bond for the manslaughter charge plus $5,000 for additional DUI counts.¹²
His next court appearance is scheduled for January 20.
Brandon's father Steve remembered his son as someone who always put others first.
"My son was just an awesome guy. He was a love of my life," Steve said.¹³
Neighbor Adam Feist rushed outside after hearing the crash.
"We found the dog who was beat up pretty bad, died instantly, no doubt. And it was just a pretty horrific scene," Feist recalled.¹⁴

Trump Administration Cracks Down After Wave of Illegal Alien Traffic Deaths
This senseless killing is exactly what Trump campaigned on stopping.
The President's crackdown on illegal alien criminals has resulted in more than 2.5 million illegal aliens leaving the country since January 2025 — over 605,000 through deportations and 1.9 million through self-deportation.¹⁵
ICE has arrested more than 595,000 illegal aliens since Trump's inauguration.¹⁶
The administration has issued immigration detainer holds on dozens of illegal aliens involved in fatal DUI crashes across multiple states this year alone.
In August, an illegal alien truck driver killed three people on Florida's Turnpike after making an illegal U-turn with a commercial truck.
California had issued him a Commercial Driver's License despite his illegal status.¹⁷
That same month, another illegal alien driving a Maserati while drunk crossed into oncoming traffic in Tennessee, killing one woman and critically injuring her husband.¹⁸
In Wisconsin, an illegal alien driving drunk killed two high school sweethearts in a wrong-way crash.
In Louisiana, a 15-year-old boy riding his bicycle was killed by an illegal alien charged with DUI.¹⁹
DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin put it bluntly: "It seems to be almost a daily occurrence where an illegal alien driving kills innocent Americans. All of these deaths are preventable because these illegal aliens should have never been in our country."²⁰
Brandon Klosterman spent his life serving others — visiting his mother daily, building his business, caring for his pets.
He and Dama survived a hurricane and rebuilt everything from scratch.
They were planning their future together.
Then an illegal alien with a blood alcohol level three times the legal limit took it all away in seconds.
Brandon's dead.
Dama's shattered pelvis leaves her unable to work or even climb the steps to her own home.
She's drowning in medical bills with zero insurance and a mortgage she can't pay.
This is the human cost of open borders.
Every family destroyed by an illegal alien criminal is a family that should still be whole.
Trump's getting them out — over 2.5 million gone since January — but it wasn't fast enough to save Brandon Klosterman.
