The Washington, D.C. Swamp is throwing everything but the kitchen sink at Pete Hegseth.
But he is not walking into battle alone.
And Pete Hegseth got some key backup from Anna Paulina Luna in one major fight.
Anna Paulina Luna helps Pete Hegseth in his confirmation fight
President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee for Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has had his name dragged through the mud by the media.
Hegseth is a reformer who wants to rid the military of the woke diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) agenda that became the priority under President Joe Biden.
Representative Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) is an Air Force veteran and one of the rising stars in the GOP.
She attended Hegseth’s confirmation hearing before the Senate Armed Services Committee to provide some backup.
Luna delivered letters from female veterans in support of Hegseth’s confirmation to the Senators before the hearing started.
Democrats and their media allies are running a smear campaign against Hegseth that has accused him of being sexist against female soldiers.
Luna argued that he would be a “great” Secretary of Defense.
“The one thing that I would like to see in our next Secretary of Defense, which he checks that box, is he has combat experience,” Luna explained. “We need people that have served in the frontlines and understand the gravity of their decisions in that it will impact people. This is a life-or-death decision.”
She predicted that Hegseth would get the votes needed to be confirmed despite the phony controversies manufactured by Democrats.
Luna called the attacks on Hegseth an “anonymous smear campaign.”
False narrative about Pete Hegseth shot down
Senate Democrats falsely claimed during Hegseth’s confirmation hearing that he opposes women serving in the military.
He has been critical of women serving in combat roles.
Luna defended him on that assessment.
“Mr. Hegseth supports women in the military, but there are certain roles that I would actually deem are very dangerous for women in the military,” Luna explained.
She argued that women serving in combat was something that needed to be managed “very, very carefully.”
Hegseth’s hearing was disrupted at the beginning by protestors with the left-wing anti-war group Code Pink.
Luna said that Senate Democrats could have let Code Pink into the hearing to have them disrupt it.
“What’s interesting is those people actually were sitting in some of the Senate designated guest seats,” Luna said on the Benny Johnson Show. “And so, it’s interesting – who gave them tickets? But then also too, I had actually brought in a poster…that had Elizabeth Warren’s college application that checked her as being Native American and they would not allow me to bring that in.”
She slammed Code Pink for being allowed to disrupt the hearing by holding up their signs while her Warren poster was banned.
Luna also pointed out that the media ignored the hundreds of veterans who showed up on Capitol Hill to support Hegseth.
“Unless it was a conservative outlet, they didn’t want to cover that,” Luna said. “There was Navy SEALS, there was Green Berets, there was female veterans supporting Hegseth but they didn’t want to cover that, they wanted to cover the crazies.”
Democrats are going scorched earth to try to stop Pete Hegseths’ confirmation.
