The Left has long used government schools and universities as a means of indoctrinating the next generation with their warped world view.
In Florida, Governor Ron DeSantis has taken bold steps to push back.
Now red state Governors are following DeSantis’ lead in fighting back against woke indoctrination.
One of the Left’s favorite tactics for maintaining power is sowing racial division.
It’s classic divide and conquer.
That’s why in recent years there has been a surge in so-called Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs.
The toxic outlooks pushed by these programs include characterizing America as irredeemably racist and labeling all white people as oppressors and all minorities as oppressed.
Fostering resentment between races isn’t just an unfortunate side-effect of these programs, it’s their thinly-veiled goal.
Many universities across the country have DEI offices devoted to pushing this garbage.
DeSantis’ Stop W.O.K.E. Act takes aim at combating this propaganda by prohibiting government schools and universities that receive state funding from teaching these “concepts.”
Despite what the radical Left and their pals in the media try to say, nothing in this bill prohibits teaching accurate history regarding slavery, segregation, or other discriminatory practices.
What the bill does ban is teaching that one race is superior to another, that advocates in favor of discrimination, or that anyone is to blame for past injustices because of their race.
Now, other states around the country are following Florida’s lead.
Texas Governor Gregg Abbott is working on legislation that would shut down DEI offices on campus and ban so-called “diversity training” and hiring statements.
Abbott told the Houston Chronicle “Diversity is something that we support.” But college DEI programs don’t advance equal opportunity for everyone and are part of an effort to “purge conservative thought.”
Tennessee passed a law to ban universities from holding so-called implicit bias training, which tells people they are racist even if they don’t mean to be.
In Iowa, Governor Kim Reynolds signed a bill that restricts teaching divisive concepts in diversity training, and the Board of Regents has announced a review of all university DEI programs.
DeSantis took the lead on pushing back against woke indoctrination, and it’s good to see other Governors start to follow.
