Donald Trump wasted no time restoring order to the military after taking office.
The Supreme Court just gave him a major victory.
And Ron DeSantis celebrated when Donald Trump’s transgender military ban shocked leftists nationwide.
Supreme Court allows Trump’s restoration of military standards
The Supreme Court delivered a win for President Donald Trump by allowing his administration to enforce a ban on transgender people serving in the military while legal challenges proceed through the courts.
In a swift decision, the Court’s conservative majority rejected pleas from liberal justices to keep the policy on hold, permitting the Defense Department to move forward with implementation plans.
Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida was quick to celebrate the decision.
“The President has clear authority as Commander in Chief of the military to ensure good order and discipline,” DeSantis said as he lauded the high court for having “halted the madness.”

Leftist judges think they should exercise these Article II powers; I’m glad that the US Supreme Court has halted the madness.

The Governor has been an outspoken opponent of using taxpayer dollars for transgender medical procedures in the military.
“The military is using your tax dollars to pay for hormones and sex change operations for people in the military,” DeSantis pointed out during his presidential campaign in 2023.
Defense Secretary wastes no time implementing Trump’s directive
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has already begun the process of implementing President Trump’s executive order.
In February, Hegseth issued a policy giving military services 30 days to develop plans for identifying and removing transgender service members from the force.
“No More Trans @ DoD,” Hegseth wrote on X following Tuesday’s Supreme Court order.

Earlier that same day, Hegseth made his position clear at a special operations forces conference in Tampa where he said “no more pronouns. No more dudes in dresses. We’re done with that s***.”
Trump moved decisively to restore military readiness
President Trump’s executive order in January stated that “expressing a false ‘gender identity’ divergent from an individual’s sex cannot satisfy the rigorous standards necessary for military service.”
This policy represents a return to the standards Trump implemented during his first term, which Biden had scrapped upon taking office.
According to a senior defense official, there are approximately 4,200 troops diagnosed with gender dysphoria currently serving across active duty, National Guard, and Reserves.
The official revealed that between 2015 and 2024, taxpayers have spent about $52 million on psychotherapy, gender-affirming hormone therapy, gender-affirming surgery, and other treatments for service members.
LGBTQ groups are furious
Lambda Legal and the Human Rights Campaign Foundation called the Supreme Court’s decision “a devastating blow” to transgender service members.
“By allowing this discriminatory ban to take effect while our challenge continues, the court has temporarily sanctioned a policy that has nothing to do with military readiness and everything to do with prejudice,” the groups complained in a joint statement.
Three federal judges have ruled against the ban, including U.S. District Court Judge Benjamin Settle in Washington, who sided with seven long-serving transgender military members.Â
According to their lawyers, these service members have collectively earned more than 70 medals in 115 years of service.
Despite these legal challenges, the ban will remain in place while appeals work their way through the federal courts, which could take several months or longer.
DeSantis advocates for military readiness over social engineering
Governor DeSantis has consistently emphasized the need to prioritize military readiness over social experimentation.
During his presidential campaign, DeSantis made it clear that if elected, he would no longer allow “transgender personnel to serve in the military in their preferred sex” and would stop providing “taxpayer funds for sex change hormones and surgeries, which cause issues with readiness.”
The Governor has taken similar positions in Florida on transgender issues more broadly.Â
In 2023, he signed legislation (SB 254) banning gender-affirming care for minors, saying at the time it was a move to “outlaw the mutilation of minors.”
While Trump and DeSantis have both taken strong positions against transgender policies, they are pursuing their agendas separately – Trump through executive action and DeSantis through state legislation.
As the legal battle continues in the lower courts, the Supreme Court’s decision represents a significant win for the Trump administration, though several federal judges have already ruled against the ban in various jurisdictions.
