Ron DeSantis knows how he can win.
After crushing his 2022 opponent by 19 points and enacting a slew of conservative legislative priorities in Florida, America’s Governor has his sights set on the White House.
And Ron DeSantis dropped a major truth bomb that has Donald Trump furious.
According to The New York Times, during a call to donors at an event hosted by pro-DeSantis Super PAC Never Back Down, DeSantis had harsh words regarding former President Trump’s chances to return to the White House.
“You have basically three people at this point that are credible in this whole thing — Biden, Trump and me,” he said. “And I think of those three, two have a chance to get elected president — Biden and me — based on all the data in the swing states, which is not great for the former president and probably insurmountable because people aren’t going to change their view of him.”
The numbers back DeSantis up too.
A poll conducted by GOP firm Public Opinion Strategies showed DeSantis beating Biden by three points in Pennsylvania and six points in Arizona.
That same survey showed Trump losing both states to Biden, just as he did in 2020.
Another poll conducted by The John Locke Foundation showed DeSantis beating Biden in North Carolina by two points, while also showing Trump losing to Biden by two points.
Additional polling by Public Opinion Strategies shows DeSantis winning Georgia by five points, with Trump losing to Biden by one point.
Of course, DeSantis has a huge mountain to climb to make it to the general election.
Recent polls have shown Trump with a solid lead over DeSantis among GOP Primary voters.
Trump saw a major boost immediately following his indictment by George Soros-backed Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.
When DeSantis does enter the race he needs to come out swinging.
Trump has given DeSantis ammo to attack him in recent weeks.
Pro-Life voters are a key constituency among GOP Primary voters and Trump has done much that should infuriate them.
Trump blamed the Pro-Life issue for Republicans’ lackluster results in the 2022 Midterm elections, and recently said abortion should be a “state issue.”
Most recently Trump even attacked DeSantis for signing a six-week abortion ban, calling it “too harsh.”
DeSantis is clearly the best candidate to take on Joe Biden, but if he plans to get past Trump, he is going to have to take off the kid gloves.
