Ron DeSantis dropped the hammer on Donald Trump for not following through on this one promise he made in 2016

Ron DeSantis and Donald Trump hold similar views when it comes to issues like illegal immigration, gun rights, and the culture war.

But DeSantis believes this one thing sets him apart from Trump.

And Ron DeSantis dropped the hammer on Donald Trump for not following through on this one promise he made in 2016.

The illegal immigration crisis unleashed by Joe Biden’s open borders agenda is one of the top issues facing voters in 2024.

Since Joe Biden took office, record breaking numbers of illegal aliens and dangerous drugs have entered the country.

Donald Trump’s promise to build a wall and secure the border helped catapult him to victory over Hillary Clinton in 2016.

Fast forward to today and Trump is once again focusing on the border crisis as part of his campaign.

Trump recently sat down for an interview with Megyn Kelly on her podcast.

Kelly, who is not afraid to challenge politicians, pressed Trump on a number of tough points like why he did not fire Anthony Fauci during the pandemic.

“You made him a star,” Kelly said. “This is the criticism of you, that you made him the face of the White House coronavirus task force, that he was out at every presser, that he was running herd for the administration on COVID, and that you actually gave him a presidential Commendation before he left office.”

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has also taken issue with Trump’s decision to promote Fauci instead of fire him during the pandemic.

Kelly also pressed Trump on why he never followed through on his 2016 promise to end birthright citizenship.

“You’ve said that you will end it by executive order if put back in the White House, but putting aside the legal questions around whether that’s possible, you made this promise back in ’16 and then you didn’t do it once elected,” Kelly said. “And then as president, you kept saying that you were gonna find an executive order on this and you didn’t, so why should people believe you now?”

Trump blamed it on his lawyers who told him “you have to go through a whole big thing all over the country” and “everything else.”

But Florida Governor Ron DeSantis called out Trump for making excuses for his failed promise to end birthright citizenship.

“In 2016, Trump promised to end Birthright Citizenship,” the DeSantis War Room began in a scathing post on social media. “As President, he didn’t keep that promise.”

The War Room then called out Trump for making up excuses by claiming my “lawyers didn’t want me to do it” and “I was getting ready to do it and then COVID came in.”

“@RonDeSantis will END Birthright Citizenship — NO MORE EXCUSES,” the DeSantis War Room concluded.
