Ron DeSantis dropped the hammer on Gavin Newsom by pointing out this one glaring difference between California and Florida

California Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom thought he could score cheap political points by attacking Ron DeSantis.

But Newsom’s attack backfired.

And Ron DeSantis dropped the hammer on Gavin Newsom by pointing out this one glaring difference between California and Florida.

On Independence Day, California Governor Gavin Newsom spent $105,000 to run an ad attacking Ron DeSantis on Fox News Channel in Florida.

“Your Republican leaders, they’re banning books, making it harder to vote, restricting speech in classrooms, even criminalizing women and doctors,” Newsom said in the ad.

“I urge all of you living in Florida to join the fight. Or, join us in California where we still believe in freedom. Freedom of speech. Freedom to choose. Freedom from hate. And, the freedom to love. Don’t let them take your freedom,” Newsom asserted.

Of course, Newsom running an ad in Florida caught the attention of the national media.

During a press conference on Friday in Cape Coral, a reporter asked DeSantis what he thought about Newsom claiming Florida wasn’t free.

“Well, look, everyone wants to talk about me and Florida,” DeSantis began. “I’m just sitting here little ‘ol me doing my job,” he continued.

DeSantis then pointed out one glaring difference between California and Florida that Gavin Newsom doesn’t want to talk about.

“I was born and raised in this state,” DeSantis said. “And until the last few years, I rarely if ever saw a California license plate in the state of Florida,” he continued, before adding that, “you now see a lot of ‘em.”

“I can tell you if you go to California, you ain’t seeing very many Florida license plates,” DeSantis quipped.

DeSantis then blasted Newsome for treating the people of California like “peasants” during the pandemic.

“As he was locking down his citizens,” DeSantis said of Newsom, “he would then go and have these extravagant dinners at the French Laundry to basically rub his citizens’ noses in the fact that he was treating them like peasants.”

“In Florida, we weren’t locking them down, we were lifting our people up,” he added.

Unlike Florida, people are fleeing California in droves to escape Newsom’s tyranny.

In May, officials announced that California’s population had decreased by more than 100,000 people in 2021, marking the second consecutive year the state has seen a population decline.

According to the state’s Department of Finance, California’s three most populous counties all experienced population loss.

On the contrary, Florida’s population is booming as a result of DeSantis’ pro-freedom policies.

“When families are uprooting from the Pacific Coast to go almost 3,000 miles in search of a better life, that’s telling you something,” DeSantis said.

“Yes, we’ve created a citadel of freedom here that has attracted people and we’re proud of it. But, let’s just be clear, California is driving people away with their terrible governance,” he added.

One day the Democrats and left-wing media will learn their lesson that attacking Ron DeSantis is not a good idea.

But they haven’t learned that lesson yet.

And DeSantis continues to make them look foolish with every attack.
