Ron DeSantis dropped the hammer on GoFundMe for committing fraud against the Freedom Convoy 2022 donors

The Freedom Convoy of Canadian truckers protesting against vaccine mandates just entered their second week on the ground in Ottawa.

The leftists at GoFundMe tried to end the protest by freezing the more than $10 million donated to the truckers.

But Ron DeSantis dropped the hammer on GoFundMe for committing fraud against the Freedom Convoy 2022 donors.

On January 15, the Canadian government implemented a federal vaccine mandate for all cross-border truck drivers.

In response, a group of thousands of Canadian truck drivers calling themselves the “Freedom Convoy 2022” traveled to Ottawa, where they are parked downtown and are planning to stay until the mandates are lifted and freedom is restored.

Of course, the corporate-controlled media and the radical Left are furious about the Freedom Convoy 2022 and are doing everything they can to shut down and end the protest.

When their usual lies and smears didn’t work, the Left called on their allies at Big Tech to try to stop the Freedom Convoy 2022.

Last Thursday, GoFundMe announced they were freezing the more than $10 million donated to keep the truckers supplied with fuel and food so they could remain in Ottawa until the mandates are lifted.

Then, on Friday, GoFundMe announced it was shutting down the Freedom Convoy 2022 page and would “work with organizers to send all remaining funds to credible and established charities chosen by the Freedom Convoy 2022 organizers and verified by GoFundMe.”

Donald Trump Jr. blasted GoFundMe in a post on Twitter where he called for all Republican Attorneys General to investigate the matter.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who had previously declared his support for the Freedom Convoy 2022 in a post on Facebook that read, “TRUCK YEAH!” answered Trump Jr.’s call.

After GoFundMe not only took down the Freedom Convoy 2022’s page, but also announced they would be donating the more than $10 million to various charities, Ron DeSantis blasted the company, saying it was fraud for them to “commandeer” the donations.

And in a post on Twitter, DeSantis vowed to work with his state’s Attorney General, Ashley Moody, to investigate GoFundMe.

“It is a fraud for @gofundme to commandeer $9M in donations sent to support truckers and give it to causes of their own choosing,” DeSantis wrote on Twitter, adding that “I will work with @AGAshleyMoody to investigate these deceptive practices — these donors should be given a refund.”

Apparently, the leftists at GoFundMe took Ron DeSantis’ threat seriously.

On Saturday, the company announced that even though they were taking down the Freedom Convoy 2022’s page, they would automatically refund all donations made to support the truckers.

However, on Sunday, Ashley Moody said her office was still planning to investigate GoFundMe for taking down the Freedom Convoy 2022 page.

“Now come in and make a political judgment and pose your political will, when folks are trying to support those standing up for their freedoms, for their rights,” Moody said, adding that “we’re not going to put up with this hypocritical nonsense by big business.”

DeSantis’ willingness to stand up and defend freedom is one of the main reasons why he is wildly popular with GOP voters nationwide.
