In the latest sign that Ron DeSantis is running for President, DeSantis held an event to showcase how Florida would push back on Joe Biden’s open borders agenda.
Speaking in front of a podium with a “Biden’s border crisis” sign, DeSantis outlined new measures to crack down on illegal immigration in Florida.
DeSantis’ proposals included mandating all states employers use e-verify, banning local governments from funding nonprofits to create ID cards for illegal aliens, and making it a third degree felony to traffic illegal aliens into Florida.
“This country is unable to control its own borders,” DeSantis explained. “We’ve seen millions of people come across illegally over the last two plus years. We’ve seen China, our number-one adversary, fly a spy balloon clear over the continental United States with impunity and basically humiliate our country in the process.”
DeSantis also sought to require Floridians to swear under penalty of perjury that they were U.S. citizens before voting.
“We want all citizens here that want to vote, to vote, but we don’t want anybody here voting illegally,” DeSantis added. “And if you’re not a citizen of this country, you should not be voting in our elections.”
DeSantis stated that the number one job of the government was to secure the border and that his administration would take whatever steps it could to help turn off the magnets that attract illegal aliens to America.
“If he’s going to run again, this is a massive problem for him, and I think that they — maybe they’re wising up about that,” DeSantis declared. “Because you can’t defend the borders of your own country? That’s kind of like your primary job.”
“We need to do everything in our power to protect the people of Florida from what’s going on at the border and the border crisis,” DeSantis added.
Illegal immigration and the southern border has long been Joe Biden’s biggest political weakness.
Ron DeSantis wants Republican voters to know that he has a concrete plan for Florida to reduce illegal immigration that he can take national the second he announces he is running for President.
