There’s a civil war brewing within the Republican Party.
Establishment RINOs want Trump’s influence diminished.
But Ron DeSantis dropped the hammer on Liz Cheney and the Never-Trumpers with this one epic smackdown.
During Donald Trump’s four years in office, Wyoming Republican Congresswoman Liz Cheney voted in line with Trump’s agenda nearly 93% of the time.
However, after Joe Biden was elected President, Liz Cheney turned on Donald Trump and became one of Nancy Pelosi’s favorite Republicans.
After Liz Cheney not only voted to impeach Donald Trump, but also joined Democrats in accusing him of inciting an insurrection on January 6, Nancy Pelosi selected Cheney as one of only two Republicans to serve on her Select Committee.
The other Republican was Illinois Congressman Adam Kinzinger.
On Friday, the Republican National Committee (RNC) voted to censure both Cheney and Kinzinger for parroting the Left’s lies about Donald Trump inciting violence at the Capitol and for speaking out against his unsupported allegations of voter fraud in 2020.
The RNC resolution dictates the Party “shall immediately cease any and all support of” Cheney and Kinzinger “as members of the Republican Party for their behavior which has been destructive to the institution of the U.S. House of Representatives, the Republican Party and our republic, and is inconsistent with the position of the Conference.”
During an interview on Monday with Fox News Channel, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was asked what he thought about the RNC censoring Liz Cheney.
“Liz Cheney is just totally off the rails with her nonsense,” DeSantis began.
“And I think she’s not really a Republican in terms of what she’s doing. We want people that are going to fight the Left, and that’s what we need to do in this country. That’s what we’re doing in Florida, standing up for people’s freedoms. We’re opposing wokeness. We’re opposing all these things,” DeSantis continued.
As for Cheney and Kinzinger’s continuous attacks on Donald Trump for his criticism of the 2020 election, DeSantis called it a mistake for them “to act like the main issue in this country is things that happened over a year ago.”
“I can tell you in Florida, that’s not what Floridians are concerned about,” DeSantis added.
DeSantis then pointed out some of the real issues facing voters as a result of Joe Biden’s failed Presidency.
“They’re concerned about inflation and gas prices. They’re thankful that Florida’s a free state, but they look around the country and see how fragile freedom is. They’re thankful we’re a law and order state, but they look around and see what’s happening in a lot of these cities where crimes are spiking,” DeSantis said.
“So I think focusing on the issues and showing that we stand for things that matter to people is the way forward,” DeSantis continued, adding that “to have a vendetta against Donald Trump and to constantly be bringing this up is just not something that I think Republican voters are interested in.”
This isn’t the first time DeSantis criticized fellow Republicans who refuse to fight back against the Democrats and corporate-controlled media.
DeSantis previously said in an interview that “if you stand your ground, if you lead, if you don’t back down and just stand for the right things, there is a groundswell of folks who will have your back.”
DeSantis always stands his ground and never backs down from the Left.
And that has elevated him to rock star status among Republican voters nationwide.
